BANGKOK: A Thai man performed CPR on an electrocuted cat, successfully resuscitating it and garnering widespread applause online. A 27-second video clip posted by the man, known by the handle @bingbing2070, on Aug 3, attracted 224,000 likes and 2,400 comments. In the video, Bingbing administers cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to a cat that was electrocuted while climbing a utility pole. The 27-year-old veterinary assistant explained that he was notified of the incident by his daughter, who happened to be nearby at the time. Upon arrival, he saw that another person was attempting to perform CPR but was pressing on the wrong area. 'The correct method for chest compressions is to apply pressure to the side of the cat's body,' he shared with Thai news outlet Bright TV. After the feline regained consciousness, it struggled with its breathing. He promptly rushed the cat to a veterinary hospital for further assistance. On August 7, Bingbing posted another video of Thongkham, showing that he had made a remarkable recovery and was able to walk. Bingbing's actions have been widely praised by online observers. Some users also emphasised the importance of a safe living environment for pets. 'Thank you, doctor, for saving little Thongkham's life. I have a cat at home and now know how to perform CPR on him,' one remarked. The owner vowed to seal the opening, install a playpen, and address any other potential escape routes.
