Phelps and Jackson each hit 2 HRs, Georgia beats Binghamton 20-4 at Athens Regional
ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Tre Phelps and Dan Jackson each hit two of No. 7 national seed Georgia's five home runs on Friday and the Bulldogs beat Binghamton 20-4 in the opening game of the Athens Regional. Regional host Georgia (43-15) plays the winner between Oklahoma State and Duke on Saturday and No. 4 seed Binghamton (29-25) plays a loser-out game. Phelps finished with four hits, including a double, five RBIs and scored four runs and Jackson had six RBIs. Kolby Branch had four hits and drove in two and Nolan McCarthy added a double, home run and three RBIs. Leighton Finley (3-2) gave up two runs on four hits with seven strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings. Slate Alford led off the first with a double and, after Robbie Burnett flied out, scored when Phelps hit a home run. Jackson added a three-run shot to make it 5-0 going into the second. Matt Bolton and Zach Rogacki each hit an RBI single in the third to trim Binghamton's deficit to 5-2 but Jackson answered with another three-run homer off Brady Bouchard (3-5) in the home half. First pitch was delayed about 3 1/2 hours due to inclement weather in the area. ___ AP college sports:

Binghamton Bearcats to face #7 Georgia in Athens Regional
VESTAL, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Binghamton Bearcats baseball team took home the America East title over Bryant and are now set to head to Georgia, where they'll play in the Athens Regional of the NCAA Tournament. The Bearcats are the #4 seed in the regional and will face off with the Bulldogs in their first game of the regional. The other two teams heading to Athens are Duke and Oklahoma State. Bearcat Softball falls in first NCAA Game in Eugene Regional
EUGENE, OREGON (WIVT/WBGH) – The Binghamton Bearcats faced off with the Stanford Cardinal in their first NCAA Tournament game in a decade in Eugene, Oregon. The Cardinal would have the bats going early, and Binghamton couldn't come back as they lost, 9-2. Binghamton Bearcats Softball tops America East and heads to NCAA Tournament
VESTAL, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Binghamton Bearcats softball team went into the America East Tournament as the #1 seed, having not lost a game, and they didn't disappoint. In the second round, following a first-round BYE, the team knocked off Bryant in nine innings, then met up with UMBC. The Bearcats took down the Retrievers and then faced off with the Bulldogs once again, whom they topped 10-3, and became the America East Champions. The Bearcats are now heading to the NCAA Tournament. They have one of the longest trips, playing in the Eugene Regional in Oregon, facing the Stanford Cardinal. The other two teams in the Regional are the Oregon Ducks, the hosts, and the Weber State Wildcats. This is the first time Binghamton has made it to the NCAA Tournament since 2015. Binghamton Men's Lacrosse set for Postseason Tournament with four All-Conference Honors
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – At the collegiate level, teams are now preparing to kick off their conference tournament runs, with one of those being in the America East. The Binghamton Bearcats men's lacrosse team is set to look to begin their first run since 2023 for a conference title, where they'll face the same team they fell to in that seasons first round, Bryant. That season, they fell to the Bulldogs by 1. This season, they also faced Bryant a few weeks ago, where they lost by 1. The Bearcats have four newly named All-Conference Honors on their team, announced by the America East on Wednesday. Liam Ferris, Andrew Girolamo, and Lorenzo Ramos all received first-team honors, with Connor Winters named to the second team. The Bearcats are chasing their first postseason win since 2017.
