Binghamton Bearcats Softball tops America East and heads to NCAA Tournament
VESTAL, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Binghamton Bearcats softball team went into the America East Tournament as the #1 seed, having not lost a game, and they didn't disappoint.
In the second round, following a first-round BYE, the team knocked off Bryant in nine innings, then met up with UMBC. The Bearcats took down the Retrievers and then faced off with the Bulldogs once again, whom they topped 10-3, and became the America East Champions.
The Bearcats are now heading to the NCAA Tournament. They have one of the longest trips, playing in the Eugene Regional in Oregon, facing the Stanford Cardinal. The other two teams in the Regional are the Oregon Ducks, the hosts, and the Weber State Wildcats.
This is the first time Binghamton has made it to the NCAA Tournament since 2015.
The team will make their way west on Wednesday and prepare to open up their Regional play at 5 p.m. on Friday. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.

Texas extends offer to elite four-star QB Kavian Bryant
Texas extends offer to elite four-star QB Kavian Bryant In the early morning hours on Thursday, four-star quarterback Kavian Bryant announced on his social media that he'd be attending a camp held by Texas. Things went extremely well during the festivities to the point that Bryant also announced on Thursday night that the Longhorns made him an offer. Bryant doesn't just excel on the football field but on the basketball court as well. Texas also extended him an offer to play on the hardwood. He's the No. 69 overall player, the No. 15 shooting guard, and the No. 5 prospect in Texas for basketball per On3's industry rankings. Bryant was ecstatic that the Longhorns offered him. 'The opportunity is extremely big,' Bryant said per On3. 'You know Texas is the college here in Texas and for me to earn it is truly a blessing. 'The Longhorns coaching staff is great. Great energy and vibes were off the charts and the Longhorns history has been great. So yes the camp was great and blessed to receive the offer.' Bryant's father, Kadrian, spoke on what the offer meant to him as well. "It was exciting for the family," Bryant's father said via Horns247. "(Thursday) was actually my birthday, and I elected to spend some time with my boys doing what we've always done, being on the grind. To do it at a camp at Texas and receive the Texas offer, it's huge for Kavian, so it's huge for me too." The Longhorns will need to continue building a strong relationship with Bryant seeing as programs like Florida State, Michigan, Tennessee, and Texas A&M are also standing out to him. USC baseball ace Caden Aoki granted extra year of eligibility, enters transfer portal
USC baseball ace Caden Aoki granted extra year of eligibility, enters transfer portal On Monday, USC baseball's season came to an end in the NCAA Tournament. After making their first postseason appearance in 10 years, the Trojans fell to Oregon State in the final of the Corvallis Regional. On Wednesday, the Trojans got more tough news when it was reported that their top pitcher, Caden Aoki, will be entering the transfer portal. Aoki was a senior this past season, but was granted an additional season of eligibility by the NCAA. However, it now appears as though he will spend that season elsewhere. After spending his freshman year at Notre Dame in 2022, Aoki transferred to USC prior to the 2023 season. He emerged as the Trojans' top starting pitcher over the better part of the past three seasons. In 2025, he went 6-4 with a 3.99 ERA. However, it was the NCAA Tournament where Aoki forever etched himself into Trojans lore. In USC's tournament opener against TCU, Aoki allowed just one run over eight innings, throwing 114 pitches. For his performance, he was named to the all-Corvallis Regional team. While the Trojans were likely expecting to lose Aoki anyway, seeing him hit the transfer portal would be a tough loss. Given that USC lacked pitching depth behind Aoki in 2025, it will be critical that head coach Andy Stankiewicz address the position this offseason.
