Police seize stolen gun, fentanyl from Binghamton man
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A Binghamton man was taken into custody on Monday after police allegedly located fentanyl and a stolen weapon on his person. The Binghamton Police Department Detective Bureau announced the arrest of 51-year-old Willie Coaxum following a property check in the City of Binghamton. On April 15, members of the Binghamton Police Department assigned to the Broome County Special Investigations Unit, Warrant Division, and K-9 Unit conducted a property check of 6 Fayette Street. The location is a known vacant property which has been the subject of several police calls. Investigators interviewed Coaxum. During the interview, Coaxum was allegedly found to be in possession of suspected fentanyl. Investigators also say Coaxum attempted to conceal a loaded 9mm handgun. Investigators seized the handgun and narcotics. According to police, the handgun was reported stolen out of South Carolina. Coaxum is facing the following charges: Criminal Trespass in the First Degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree Coaxum was arraigned and remanded to the Broome County Jail. Manner of death for two Binghamton men declared homicide
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – After locating the bodies of two missing men at a home on the west side of Binghamton, the Binghamton Police Department Detective Bureau has declared the manner of both deaths a homicide. In the evening of February 3, Daniel McCloe, 58, and Marshall VanOven, 55, were reported missing. The two men were acquaintances of one another. Through investigation, on February 5, detectives went to a private residence and located two deceased individuals. The bodies were identified as belonging to McCloe and VanOven. Binghamton Police find two dead men who were presumed missing Autopsies were completed on February 6. A forensic pathologist determined that both men had been murdered.
