on Wednesday dedicated two facilities for the promotion of sports and tourism in Gaya district. The CM inaugurated a seven-storey state-of-the-art
Mahabodhi guest house
, built at an estimated cost of around Rs 136 crore, near Sujata Bypass in
Bodh Gaya
, and several facilities like an open-air theatre, swimming pool and Major Dhyanchand Sports Complex on the campus of
Bihar Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development
(Bipard). He also unveiled the mascot of the upcoming Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) 2025, being organised for the first time in Bihar from May 4 to 15 in five districts — Gaya, Patna, Rajgir, Bhagalpur and Begusarai.
The CM also reviewed the ongoing preparations for the sports event, and met athletes and sportspersons from different states and their coaches at Bipard.
Earlier, after arriving at Gaya airport, the CM visited world heritage Mahabodhi Mahavihara on Wednesday morning, and offered prayers with flowers and edible offerings like kheer and fruits before the statue of Lord Buddha in the sanctum sanctorum. He also also offered prayers under the sacred Bodhi tree for happiness, peace and prosperity of the state.
Bodh Gaya Temple Management Committee chairman, district magistrate Thiyagarajan S M, presented a replica of Mahavihara to the CM as a mark of respect.

After inaugurating the Mahabodhi guest house, the CM told media, "A large number of tourists come here from across the world. Due to a lack of accommodation, they used to return after darshan and offering prayers at the Mahabodhi Mahavihara. With the construction of the Mahabodhi guest house, the tourists will stay in Bodh Gaya for a longer duration."
A press release issued from the CMO said the guest house, spread over eight acres, has 120 rooms constructed with international-level facilities. The CM visited the second and seventh floors of the guest house and took stock of the arrangements.
State ministers, including Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Prem Kumar, Jayant Raj, Raju Kumar Singh, and the in charge of Gaya district, Sunil Kumar, besides senior officials, accompanied the CM.
