Janet Jackson, SZA, And More Highlights From 2025 American Music Awards
The 2025 American Music Awards, the 'largest fan-voted award show,' celebrated the most 'iconic' artists on Monday (May 26) live from the Fontainebleau Las Vegas. Hosted by Jennifer Lopez, the show included performances from Gloria Estefan, Renée Rapp, Becky G, and Janet Jackson. Winners were announced by Shaboozey, Jordan Chiles, Kai Cenat, Tiffany Haddish, Wayne Brady, and more. Jackson took home the coveted Icon Award and performed a medley of 'Someone To Call My Lover' and 'All For You.' Her dynamic set marked the singer's first live television performance in years. During her acceptance speech, she expressed how 'honored and grateful' she is especially since she doesn't consider herself to be an icon. 'My family, myself— our dream wasn't ever to be famous. We weren't raised like that. We always had a special love for music, dancing, and singing and fame came with the result of hard work and dedication,' Jackson continued. 'My story, my family's story is truly an American's story. This would have only happened in America. The one thing that I hope for is that I've been an inspiration to others and artists to follow their dreams and succeed.' SZA snagged wins for Favorite Female R&B Artist and Favorite R&B Song. She shouted out Kai Cenat's Streamer University and praised her fans for their unwavering support. See the full list of 2025 American Music Awards winners below. 'CHIHIRO' 02.) 'LUNCH' 03.) 'NDA' (shortened) 04.) 'Therefore I Am' 05.) 'WILDFLOWER' 06.) 'when the party's over' (live looped vocal layers intro) 07.) 'THE DINER' 08.) 'ilomilo' 09.) 'bad guy' 10.) 'lovely / idontwannabeyouanymore / ocean eyes' 19.) 'L'AMOUR DE MA VIE' 20.) 'What Was I Made For?' (with Finneas) 21.) 'Happier Than Ever' 22.) 'BIRDS OF A FEATHER' Billie Eilish new music On May 17, 2024, the 23-year-old singer-songwriter released her third studio album 'Hit Me Hard and Soft.' The record's compact ten tracks run the gamut of achingly personal acoustic music ripped straight from Eilish's diary to undeniably dancey, breathy shoegaze pop. At the risk of sounding cliché, we can't help but gush over the album's excellent three lead singles: the ethereal 'Wildflower,' seductive (if a bit raunchy) 'Lunch' and tropical anthem 'Birds Of A Feather.' Still, each track needs to be pored over to give Eilish the credit she deserves. 'The Greatest' is an angsty singalong that has 'grab your lighter and wave it with thousands of adoring fans' written all over it. 'L'amour De Ma Vie' takes a hard left turn at the 3:35 mark and turns a lush ballad into a tripped-out disco reminiscent of The Voidz. 'The Diner' is discomfiting baroque pop that will make your skin crawl in the best way possible. 'Bittersuite' is a soundscape that tests the limits of Eilish's seemingly endless vocal talents. If you want to give the record a go (and we recommend you do!), you can find the sneakily adventurous 'Hit Me Hard and Soft' here. Huge stars on tour in 2025 Live music is having a bit of a moment. I Couldn't Get Enough of J.Lo's Fashion at the AMAs
"Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may earn commission or revenue on some items through these links." As host of the 2025 American Music Awards, Jennifer Lopez was not going to slack off when it came to her fashion. Our favorite outfit changer's style parade began with a dramatic coatdress that she wore for a six-minute dance performance that kicked off the ceremony. She opened the number with a few lines from her own song, 'Dance Again,' before switching to a medley of hits from the past year, like Billie Eilish's 'Birds of a Feather,' Shaboozey's 'A Bar Song,' and more—all of which moved to (while giving a few smooches to her backup dancers along the way). Lopez started the performance in a black belted coatdress from the Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2024 collection, which she quickly stripped off to reveal a custom catsuit from Michael Ngo underneath. The two-tone, black-and-tan piece featured a high neck and pants that morphed into boots. It was also decorated with gems that were made to resemble the inside of a motherboard. From there, shimmering details were a recurring theme for Lopez, who changed into sequin-clad designs like a cerulean strapless dress with jutting hips from David Koma, and a gold halter dress that functioned like a bodysuit, save for a few loin cloth-esque strips that hung down over her legs. Later, the 'Can't Get Enough' singer stepped out in a silver Bronx and Banco dress with a fringe maxi skirt and a halter bodice that wrapped across her body in the shape of a cross. Oh, and the skin-baring continued when walked the winners' red carpet in a caramel, halter-style Defaïence dress that bared her abs thanks to a plunging middle connected via a set of large, golden hoops. Lopez ended the night in couture from Miss Sohee. The outfit consisted of a gray plunging gown with tiers of white sequins that resembled scales, paired with a baby-blue cape that was embroidered with patterns of green vines and pink flowers. We can always count on to dance, and love, and dance—and change clothes—again.
