Man fatally shot in west Birmingham house identified
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A man who was found fatally shot in a west Birmingham home was identified Thursday morning. Officer Truman Fitzgerald with the Birmingham Police Department said that around 10:40 a.m. Wednesday, police received a call of a person shot inside what is believed to be an abandoned house in the 3200 block of Avenue S. At the scene, officers found a man shot inside the house. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene. Police think the suspect shot the victim. Fitzgerald said there may have been criminal activity taking place inside the house before the shooting. The Jefferson County Coroner's identified the man killed as 42-year-old Brandon Luvine Cunningham. Birmingham teen charged with capital murder in killing of 22-year-old
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A Birmingham teen is facing a charge of capital murder in the shooting death of a 22-year-old. Jeremy Thomas, 18, was arrested on February 5 in connection with the fatal shooting of Xavier Colvert, according to Birmingham police. Louisiana woman arrested following death of Kansas City reporter covering Super Bowl LIX Nearly a week ago, on January 31, Colvert was discovered shot in a vehicle on the 1500 block of 57th Street Ensley. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service personnel pronounced Colvert dead at the scene. Thomas, of Birmingham, is being held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
