‘Saturday Night Live' Host Jon Hamm Plays A Disillusioned Financial News Host In Trump Tariffs Sketch

Saturday Night Live came out of the gate swinging at President Donald Trump after another tumultuous week for the U.S. economy, poking fun at the chaos with a segment featuring host Jon Hamm as a very disillusioned cable news personality trying to make sense of the mess. 'Let's check on the S&P500, down 2.3%, the NASDAQ is down 265 points…does that mean anything to anyone?' he says at the top of the broadcast on CTCBC (Check-to-Check Business News Channel). Let's take a look at box mac and cheese, which is up 4.5% to $1.59.' Aghast, Hamm asks, 'Even across the street?' The answer is yes, even across the street. For inquiring minds, 'big ass box of Bisquick' is also up. The healthcare sector isn't looking much better, according to Hamm's character, who says 'so far, in 2025 spending on doctor visits remains steady at zero.' Those feeling the squeeze from Trump's tariffs are in luck, as CTCBC's David Hayes (Kenan Thompson) has some suggestions for how and where to make cuts to the budget to get by. For example, try subbing Cap'n Crunch with the generic 'Sergeant Munch.' 'Lower rank, lower price,' Thompson's character promises.
