USA's Blake Zielinski ‘Did a T.J. Oshie Move' In The Shootout
In the semifinals of the 2025 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, the USA's Blake Zielinski assisted on Noah Davidson's first-period power-play goal and then scored a PP marker of his own in the last minute of the second to give the USA a 3-1 lead. The Canadians came back to tie it in the third, but Zielinski was one of three Americans to score in the shootout. 'I just did a T.J. Oshie move,' he smiled. 'Came in wide, went to the backhand, back to the forehand, tucked it five-hole and ended up scoring there. It was a pretty great feeling.' Zielinski, who played last season for the USHL's Des Moines Buccaneers and has already committed to Providence College starting in 2027-28, entered the game with a team-leading six points. Two more today gives him eight, which puts him second in tournament scoring behind Sweden's Marcus Nordmark. 'Just shooting the puck, playing hard, keeping it to our systems,' he explained. 'I've gotta give a lot of credit to the guys I'm playing with too,' he said about linemates Jack Hextall and Noah Davidson. 'I wouldn't be here without them and we've just gotta keep it going.'
