‘Blaze' – A Memoir of Courage and Resilience Released in Bahrain
Bahrain recently witnessed the release of Blaze: A Son's Trial by Fire, a profoundly moving memoir by Nidhi Poddar and Sushil Poddar.
The book chronicles the decade-long battle their only son, Divyansh, fought against leukaemia — a journey that tested their resilience, strength, and unwavering love as parents.
Blaze is not just a cancer story; it is an unflinching account of how the disease impacts the patient and an entire family.
It delves into the pain, helplessness, and moments of despair yet highlights the triumph of the human spirit, self-discovery, and courage in the face of adversity.
Nidhi Poddar shares how they navigated their son's illness after he was diagnosed at the age of 12, turning every challenge into a testament of hope and endurance.
Guiding light
The book serves as a guiding light for families facing similar struggles, offering solace and strength.
Though Divyansh tragically passed away in 2019 at 22, his laughter, dreams, and relentless spirit continue to inspire through the pages of Blaze.
The memoir transforms grief into a lasting legacy of love, resilience, and purpose.
Human spirit
Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan praised the book as 'an emotional read that leaves one transformed by the triumph of the human spirit.'
Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar also shared his thoughts, stating, 'Divyansh's never-saydie attitude should inspire people from all walks of life. The body may suffer, but as John Milton said, 'The mind in its place can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven.'
'Despite his critical illness, Divyansh achieved so much. His story is truly inspiring and deeply moving. May he continue to rest in peace.'
Message of hope
The authors now advocate for supporting parents of children battling life-threatening illnesses and plan to visit Gulf countries to spread their message of hope.
The book was officially released in Bahrain by Rajiv Kumar Mishra, Counsellor (Politics and PIC) at the Indian Embassy, who presented a copy to P. Unnikrishnan, Chairman of The Daily Tribune English newspaper.
With Blaze, Nidhi and Sushil Poddar, a senior government official, have turned personal sorrow into a beacon of strength for others, ensuring that Divyansh's story continues to inspire future generations.
