Outlander fans can't get enough of Claire Fraser's mum as she stuns at Blood of my Blood premiere
Hermione Corfield plays Claire Fraser's mum Julia in the prequel show Blood of my Blood. The release of Outlander's prequel Blood of My Blood is just a few months away and fans are literally counting down the hours to get their Outlander fix. The brand new show will delve into the tales of how Jamie's and Claire's parents first crossed paths. The prequel is set to whisk viewers away to the "war-ravaged battlegrounds of World War One to the expansive Highlands of 18th Century Scotland", showcasing "two fresh love stories brimming with loyalty, passion and desire". The characters of Claire's parents, Julia and Henry, will be brought to life by We Hunt Together star Hermione Corfield and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again actor Jeremy Irvine. The parents of Jamie Fraser, Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie, will be portrayed by Condor's Nest actor Jamie Roy and Belgravia: The Next Chapter actress Harriet Slater. And now, the four have reunited for the official premiere of the show in LA. Fans couldn't get enough of Hermione Corfield, who plays Claire's mother Julia Beauchamp, as she shared snaps on her Instagram page. Sharing a series of snaps of herself in a stunning blue and white floral dress, followed by a snap of the cast in a pink cart, Hermione penned: "Blood of my Blood screening at @sonypictures shot by @cibellelevi." Many fans flocked to the comments to compliment Hermione. One said: "Oh my! This is next level Hermione." Another penned: "These are some really stunning shots." While one commented: "Love the dress girl!" And another said: "You look gorgeous." Joining the four on the cast list are Your Honor's Tony Curran as Simon Fraser, Rebus' Seamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie, Ackley Bridge's Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie, Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser and BBC Two's Industry actor Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan. The prequel, titled Outlander: Blood Of My Blood, is based on both the original TV series and the book series by Diana Gabaldon. It delves into the early 20th Century in England and the 18th Century in Scotland. Blood Of My Blood will explore the love stories of Jamie's parents Brian and Ellen, who must navigate clan politics, while Claire's parents, Henry and Julia, maintain a long-distance relationship due to the war. Outlander fans will recall that Claire's parents tragically died in a car crash when she was just five-years-old, adding a layer of tragedy to their story. Matthew B Roberts, the executive producer and showrunner of the original series, has written and produced Outlander: Blood Of My Blood, with Gabaldon returning as a consulting producer. Outlander: Blood Of My Blood will debut on Saturday, August 9, on MGM+. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Outlander fans were asked the craziest thing they've ever done in the name of the show and they did not disappoint with their answers. Outlander fans have been sharing their most wild theories about the show and some have our jaws on the floor. The first series of the prequel Blood of my Blood is set to air this summer and the last series of Outlander has already been been filmed, but there is no release date at the moment. To keep fans entertained during the current 'Droughtlander' the official page on Instagram asked fans for their input on their craziest show theories and the comments section definitely requires some popcorn. The post read: "I'm bored. Comment your hottest Outlander take. I'm not talking about "Jamie is better than Frank", I'm talking your unhinged theories, characters you hate to love, the craziest thing you'd do for Outlander." Fans who opted to talk about the craziest thing they'd do for Outlander certainly did not disappoint. One wrote: "Craziest thing I'd do for outlander? WELL, seeing as how I moved to Scotland, opened a tour company because of Outlander, got married last week at J&C's same location to a Scotsman.. yeah no I'm not unhinged at all." While one said: "I travelled to Scotland by myself to see the filming locations. That's the craziest thing I have ever done for a tv show", another said: "I travelled halfway across the world all by myself to visit Scotland!" Another commented that they made friends due to the show: "Travelled to meet up and stay with friends I'd only ever known online—just so we could fangirl together at Outlander events! Yes you heard that right. 26 hours, all because Outlander made me fall in love with a character and the man who plays him." Outlander has gathered fans from all across the globe with many making the trip to Scotland to see the show filming locations in person. Earlier this year, data from the Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions (ASVA) and Glasgow Caledonian University's Moffat Centre revealed that the Outlander effect played a key role in boosting visitor numbers, particularly at sites linked to the show. Outlander's Sam Heughan on what he misses most about show now filming has wrapped
Sam Heughan has revealed what he misses most about filming on Outlander after filming wrapped last year. The Scots actor had been part of the hit Starz show for over ten years and is preparing to leave his iconic role as Jamie Fraser behind for good as it gets set to air its final series. The 44-year-old joined Lorraine Kelly on her ITV show on Thursday morning to talk about his new campaign with WWF about the importance of embracing yourself in nature, when he touched on the dreaded last series of Outlander as fans wait on the eighth and final season. Lorraine said: "It has been such a huge part of your life Outlander and I know the fans will be watching of course they will. It's one of those shows its worked hand in hand." Sam replied: "I mean the books were written over 20 years ago, and Diana Gabaldon , I mean we must thank her, she's still writing. She on the tenth book, we finished about book eight or nine. "We have had to find an ending to ours but whether you're a fan of the books and read them or not, there's 101 episodes to dig into." Noting what he misses the most about Outlander, Sam said: "You work day in and day out with these people and they become family. That's something I will miss the most is the community and friendship from Outlander. "They are doing Blood of my Blood which I believe comes out in the summer, it's now my opportunity to become a fan," Sam teased as he referenced the spin-off show which will detail the story of Claire and Jamie Fraser's parents. Outlander fans were thrilled last week as the air date for the highly-anticipated spin off show Blood of My Blood was finally revealed. It comes as viewers are eagerly awaiting the eighth and final series of Outlander itself. Announcing the premier date of the prequel as August 8, the official Starz social media account on Instagram wrote, "Can true love overcome rival clans? Experience Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser's story in Outlander: Blood of My Blood premiering August 8 on STARZ." The new series will focus on Jamie's parents, Ellen MacKenzie (portrayed by Pennyworth's Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Condor's Nest's Jamie Roy), as well as Claire's parents, Julia Moriston (We Hunt Together's Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Treadstone's Jeremy Irvine). "The series will centre on these two parallel love stories set in two different eras, with Jamie's parents in the early 18th-century Scottish Highlands and Claire's parents in WWI England," according to the official synopsis. Matthew B. Roberts, the showrunner of Outlander, will also serve as the showrunner and executive producer on the spin-off series. The first season will compose of 10 episodes. Maril Davis and Ronald D. Moore will also join as executive producers, with Outlander author Diana Gabaldon acting as a consulting producer.
