Scoop: West End magic show coming to Blume Studios this fall
Magic will be in the air this fall when a mind-bending magic show from London's West End makes its North American debut in Charlotte. Why it matters:"The Magicians Table," an immersive experience, marks a major win for Charlotte's arts scene and Blumenthal Arts' growing international clout with Blume Studios. Driving the news: " The Magicians Table" runs Nov. 19 through Jan. 11 at Blumenthal Arts' Blume Studios' Stage 2 (904 Post St.) in Charlotte's new Iron District. What to expect: You'll enter the world of the fictional magician Dieter Roterberg. Magicians will introduce themselves in the pre-show lounge, while you sip on signature cocktails. Then you'll make your way into Roterberg's private performance space for the main act. The two-hour show will have a blend of comedy, live music, bone-chilling storytelling, and magic, of course. The show is for ages 18 and up, according to its website. If you go: Tickets start at $79.99 and go on sale Aug. 8 at Context: Blumenthal Arts CEO Tom Gabbard saw "The Magicians Table" in London about nine months ago on a personal trip, but says it was so good he contacted its organizers to bring it to Charlotte. Blume Studios, which opened last year, is an ideal venue to bring the latest and greatest interactive experiences to Charlotte, Gabbard says. Between the lines: Past events at Blume Studios include " Space Explorers: The Infinite," a virtual reality experience transporting you to the International Space Station, " Monopoly Lifesized," an immersive twist on the classic board game, plus a Charlotte Symphony performance called "Become Ocean." "We move quickly when the situation is right," Gabbard says. " Immersive Van Gogh," for instance, came together in four and a half months from deciding the show would come to Charlotte to opening day. The big picture: While there is some overlap between people who visit Blume Studios and those who attend traditional shows at other Blumenthal theaters, Blume Studios largely reaches new audiences, Gabbard says.

What to expect at Charlotte International Arts Festival 2025
Charlotte International Arts Festival, the annual Blumenthal Arts celebration, returns Sept. 1 and runs the entire month. Why it matters: The festival has become one of the city's signature events since it launched four years ago. By the numbers: More than 500,000 people experienced over 200 events representing over 60 countries at last year's festival. What to expect: Over 200 events will take place across the city this year. Several events are free, and ticketed events start at $5. Blume Studios will host several events: International Bazaar, a vendor market Charlotte Brunch Festival, showcasing local cuisine CLTure Day & Night Market, celebrating local Asian communities Other returning festival events include: Festival of India Le Dîner en Blanc Boom Fringe Festival Latin American Festival Festival Biergarten (an ode to local brews) Nouveau Sud (a contemporary theater troupe) Atelier Sisu (award-winning Australian sculptors) Art installations from nine local Blumenthal fellows Zoom in: There will be two festival takeover weekends. Sept. 13–14 will feature Charlotte Brunch Festival, CLTure Day & Night Market and International Bazaar, along with live performances by local international artists in the Iron District.
