Sherwood shooting, car ramming suspect facing DUII, attempted murder charges
PORTLAND, Ore. () — Even more charges are being filed against a suspect who allegedly fired dozens of shots, some targeting people, and injuring a police officer by ramming her car with his truck in Sherwood earlier this month.
is now facing 21 charges in total following a Washington County Grand Jury's indictment this week.
In addition, police are seeking a witness to the incident.
Fire causes brief I-205 closure
Blumhagen is accused of multiple counts of attempted murder, including for allegedly with shots fired. He also allegedly rammed a responding patrol car, injuring the officer inside, while intoxicated and behind the wheel on July 6.
The incident happened at 21900 SW Langer Farms Parkway in the afternoon. Tualatin Police Officer Eli Fults returned fire on Blumhagen, but the suspect was not hit, officials said. He climbed through the sunroof of his pickup truck and surrendered to officers, unharmed, police said.
However, Officer Fults is on critical incident leave, a standard procedure in cases like this.
'Investigators recovered a total of 27 shell casings related to Blumhagen's barrage of gunfire. Investigators also determined that he used several firearms to commit his crimes,' the Tigard Police Department said in a press release.
Police said they're seeking a witness in the incident who was seen driving a silver Corvette at the scene at the time. Officials are releasing images of the car in hopes of getting in touch with the witness.
Blumenhagen is facing four counts of attempted murder, with two of the charges for targeting community members and two charges for targeting police officers. He's also facing 10 charges of unlawful use of a weapon, four counts of first-degree criminal mischief with a gun, second-degree assault for injuring a police officer by ramming his truck into her patrol car, driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless endangerment of another person.
