Mass. lawyer allegedly bilked clients out of more than $2 million, authorities say

Court papers said Dolan used the funds for a variety of personal expenses including relatives' tuition and student loan payments, the purchase of a Jeep Wrangler, mortgage payments, landscaping and HVAC services, and at least $5,000 to cover 'cosmetic surgery' for a family member. Advertisement A plea deal filed in the case said prosecutors will recommend incarceration within the federal guidelines for Dolan, and that the government will also seek 'restitution of $2,022,460″ and other fines. It wasn't immediately clear how much prison time the government will seek based on the guidelines. 'Defendant agrees that all criminal monetary penalties, including special assessment, restitution, forfeiture, and/or fine imposed shall be due and payable immediately, and further agrees that any Court-ordered repayment schedule does not preclude further enforcement or collection by the United States,' said the plea agreement. Advertisement Dolan was first licensed to practice law in Massachusetts in 1993, according to the state Board of Bar Overseers website, which listed him as having 'Disciplinary Proceedings Pending' as of June 30. Democratic state committee member resigns after being charged with child rape
'He hasn't been an active member,' Wilder said of LeBlanc in a telephone interview Friday. 'He hasn't been involved much for many years.' Advertisement Wilder also said that LeBlanc, who is a lawyer, last served as a volunteer attorney for the committee in 2006. LeBlanc joined the committee in 2002, according to Wilder. LeBlanc's attorney, Gerard LaFlamme Jr., did not immediately return a call from the Globe Friday. LeBlanc, a Methuen resident, did not immediately return a call Friday. LeBlanc is being prosecuted by Essex District Attorney Paul F. Tucker's office. A spokesman on Friday declined to provide details of the allegations, citing the ongoing court action. Wilder said the committee has not been notified by prosecutors that the allegations against LeBlanc are connected to his activities with the party during the past 23 years. LeBlanc was publicly reprimanded by the Board of Bar Overseers in 2023 for disclosing confidential information about a former client's juvenile convictions during an on-line feud on Facebook, according to the agency's website.
