Bobbie's Dairy Dip: A Nashville tradition
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Bobbie's Dairy Dip has been a Nashville staple since 1951.
Opening under the original name of 'Harper's Dairy Dip,' it was purchased in the mid-1980s by the late Bobbie McWright, who coined it 'Bobbie's Dairy Dip.' Despite the new name, the 1950s look and feel remained.
'I've been living in Nashville for over 40 years, and it's been here ever since I've been here,' Steve St. John, a Bobbie's regular, told News 2. 'Great burgers, great prices, and it's like going back in time a little bit.'

'Customers will come back and be like, 'Oh, I've been coming here since I was a little kid,' and I just feel like they are walking down memory lane,' manager of Bobbie's Dairy Dip, David Paik, said. 'Because a lot of people and places have changed in Nashville, and Bobbie's is fairly similar to what it used to be.'
The items on the menu are a sweet tooth's dream.
'I think we are known for the 'Dancing Dip', which is a vanilla cone dipped in chocolate, with rainbow sprinkles on top,' Paik said. 'We also have great sundaes, great specialty shakes and a very hidden item called a 'Hidden Hot Fudge Cake.' It's a brownie with vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream and cherry.'
As much people like Bobbie's Dairy Dip for their delectables, the tradition is appreciated by the those young and old.
Cathryn Martin dropped by with her grandson, John Martin.

'I think it's pretty important to keep these traditions alive,' Martin said. 'You see people who are bringing their children [and] their grandchildren here. He came with his grandfather the first time, and they will stop here when they are in town.'
'I think it's good that they kept something from a long time ago, so that now, we can experience it,' her grandson added.
Bobbie's Dairy Dip is located at 5301 Charlotte Avenue and is open during the warm months. It has outdoor seating with picnic tables and plenty of fans to keep folks cool — along with the ice cream — during the hot summer months.
