Lincoln Theatre gets wound up for Wine Down Wednesdays concert series
Many folks need a breather by Wednesday. What better way to shake the midweek malaise than with a cool cocktail and some even cooler tunes? At Wine Down Wednesdays, the Lincoln Theatre's annual summer concert series, guests can enjoy some of Columbus' best talent along with hors d'oeuvres and a specially curated wine selection or specialty cocktail. Held on the rooftop patio at the Lincoln, the series will open May 21 with a performance by celebrated pianist, organist and keyboardist Bobby Floyd. In addition to his longtime association with the Columbus Jazz Orchestra, Floyd toured with Ray Charles, and backed Chuck Mangione, Branford Marsalis, Mavis Staples and numerous others. Wine Down Wednesdays will continue with: Ricka Fanning, June 25: Recipient of the Kingdom Image Award for Producer of the Year for her 2019 album, 'Chosen,' Fanning is the bassist for Grace Apostolic Church and has her own band, SOUL N~ER~G. , July 16: Rooted in traditional jazz with R&B and hip-hop elements, the trio will be joined by vocalist Ray Woods, whose 'Romance & Ballads: Do Not Disturb' album was released in 2024. , Aug. 20: The eight-piece band of central Ohio educators play everything from old-school funk, jazz, hip-hop, pop and genre-defying originals. , Sept. 7: Well-versed in gospel, jazz and West African musical traditions, the percussionist has performed with pianist Aaron Diehl, singers Dorinda Clark-Cole, Marvin Sapp and many others. Doors open at 5 p.m. for all of the concerts, which will begin at 6:45 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, performances will be moved inside to the Lincoln lobby.
