"Very sad to see this," Akhilesh Yadav expresses sorrow on Air India plane crash
Kannauj (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 14 (ANI): Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav expressed deep sorrow on Saturday over the tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad. Speaking with the media, the SP chief said the incident was very sad and prayed that no such incidents would happen again. 'The incident that happened in Ahmedabad is very sad. It is very sad to see this, and one wonders how this happened. In today's time when technology has become so advanced... the incident is being investigated. When the investigation report comes, the truth will come out, but we pray that such an incident does not happen again,' Akhilesh Yadav said. The AI-171 Boeing Dreamliner 787-8 aircraft, bound for London's Gatwick, crashed shortly after taking off from the Ahmedabad International Airport on Thursday. The airline said 241 people on board the aircraft died in the crash, while only one passenger survived. Earlier in the day, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu issued an order to extend the scrutiny of the Boeing Dreamliner 787 series planes present in the Indian Aircraft fleet after the crash. Naidu further stated that around eight Boeing 787 Series aircraft have already been scrutinised and inspected with immediate urgency. Addressing a press conference here, the Union Civil Aviation Minister said, 'We have very strict safety standards in the the incident happened, we also felt that there is a need to do an extended surveillance of the Boeing 787 Series. DGCA has also given an order to do the extended surveillance for the Boeing 787 planes. There are 34 in our Indian aircraft fleet today. I believe that 8 have already been inspected, and with immediate urgency, all of them are going to be done.' 'Furthermore, as the investigation is going to proceed and the report is going to come, whatever necessary steps need to be taken, we are going to ensure that without any hesitation, we are going to improve every necessary thing that is going to come our way to improve the safety', he added. The Union Minister further informed that Air India has been instructed to facilitate the process of assisting the families of the passengers in every possible way. He added that the bodies are being given to the respective families after confirmation from DNA testing and hoped that this process would be completed soon. The central government has already constituted a high-level multidisciplinary committee for examining the causes leading to the crash of Air India Flight AI-171. (ANI)

Centre announces extended scrutiny of Boeing Dreamliner 787 series aircraft present in Indian fleet
New Delhi [India], June 14 (ANI): The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued an order to extend the scrutiny of the Boeing Dreamliner 787 series planes present in the Indian Aircraft fleet, said Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu on Saturday. Naidu further stated that around eight Boeing 787 Series aircraft have already been scrutinised and inspected with immediate urgency. Addressing a press conference here, the Union Civil Aviation Minister said, 'We have very strict safety standards in the the incident happened, we also felt that there is a need to do an extended surveillance of the Boeing 787 Series. DGCA has also given an order to do the extended surveillance for the Boeing 787 planes. There are 34 in our Indian aircraft fleet today. I believe that 8 have already been inspected, and with immediate urgency, all of them are going to be done.' Once the DNA testing is confirmed, the bodies are being given to the respective families, and we are hoping that the process also gets finished as soon as possible, but the documentation and the procedure need to be followed. We are ensuring that there is no lapse in the process or the protocol that needs to be followed...' On June 12, the Al-171 Boeing Dreamliner 787-8 aeroplane bound for London's Gatwick had crashed shortly after it took off from the Ahmedabad International Airport. The airlines said only one out of the 242 people on board the aircraft survived the crash. Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu further said that the Air India Flight that crashed in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, leaving 241 people dead, has shaken the entire nation. Naidu said, 'The last two days have been very difficult, especially for the ministry and everyone else. The incident that happened in Ahmedabad has shaken the entire nation. My deepest condolences to the family members who have lost their loved ones in the incident. I have also personally lost my father to a road accident, so to a certain extent, I can understand the pain and anguish the family members are feeling.' 'It was a moment of shock right after we got to know about the incident, but even in that disbelief, I personally rushed to the site to oversee what needed to be done and what support was needed. Once we rushed to the site, the government of Gujarat had already been working on the ground trying to rescue,' he added. The Minister said that the recovery of the Black Box from the debris was critical to the investigative process. 'The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, which was formed specifically to look into the incidents, accidents that happen around aircraft, was immediately mobilised. One important update from the technical investigation which is happening through the AAIB is the recovery of the black box yesterday around 5 pm from the site, the AAIB team believes that this decoding of the black box is going to give an in depth insight into what would have happened during the process of the crash or moments before the crash itself. We are also eagerly waiting for what the results or the report are going to be once the AAIB goes through its full investigation...' The Central government has already constituted a high-level multidisciplinary committee for examining the causes leading to the crash of Air India Flight AI-171. Earlier in the day, officials from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) arrived in Ahmedabad, where the London-bound Air India flight crashed. The AAIB, a division under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, is responsible for probing aircraft accidents in India and has launched a formal investigation into the matter. (ANI)

Aryan, a 17-year-old boy who unknowingly filmed the deadly crash of Air India AI171 in Ahmedabad, said that he was simply filming the Boeing 787-7 Dreamliner aircraft near his rented home when it suddenly crashed. The video captured by Aryan provided the initial visuals of the unfortunate accident for both netizens and the media. Recounting the horrifying tragedy to reporters, Aryan stated that the Air India plane crashed within just 24 seconds of him beginning to record. "I felt very scared. My sister was the first one to see the video. I feel very scared because of what I saw," he said, HT reported. According to HT, Aryan's landlady has expressed concern for his well-being, saying that after the incident, he "was unable to speak" and "remained awake for entire night." She added, "He has become quiet, not even eating anything." His sister has also voiced concern for her brother's well-being, saying that he is very scared and struggling to speak properly. Meanwhile, in view of the fatal crash of the Air India flight the Government has ordered Directorate General of Civil Aviation to conduct extended surveillance on the Boeing 787 Series planes. Notably, there are 34 Boeing 787 Series planes in the Indian aircraft fleet and inspections of 8 have already been conducted with immediate urgency. Additionally, the Central government has instructed Air India to facilitate the process of assisting the families of the passengers in whatever way is needed. Air India flight AI171 crashed into a medical college campus in Ahmedabad on Thursday, just a minute after taking off from the airport. Air India has confirmed that 169 Indian nationals, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, 53 British nationals, 1 Canadian national and 7 Portuguese nationals were killed in the plane crash. One person survived the accident and is currently under medical observation.

Air India crash: High-level panel formed, to submit report within 3 months
Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu on Saturday announced that the central government has constituted a high-level committee to investigate the Air India Flight 171 crash in Gujarat. The tragedy, which occurred on June 12 in Ahmedabad, claimed the lives of 241 passengers. Naidu said the panel has been directed to complete its inquiry within a fixed timeline. 'We have put a time limit of three months for them to sit down, talk to various stakeholders, and involve and discuss with any other important expert that is necessary as per their investigation,' he said during a media briefing. The black box, a critical device that records flight data and cockpit conversations, was recovered around 5 pm on Friday. Naidu said, 'The AAIB team believes that this decoding of the black box is going to give an in-depth insight into what would have actually happened during the process of the crash or moments before the crash itself.' Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, in his first briefing after the Air India flight crash in Ahmedabad on Thursday, said that the black box data from the ill-fated aircraft is being decoded, while multiple agencies and high-level panels are conducting an extensive probe into the incident. The black box data is expected to provide crucial information about the cause of the Ministry is taking the utmost seriousness to the incident. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) was immediately mobilised. The DG AAIB immediately rushed to the site to take stock of the situation. One update from the technical investigation team which is happening through AAIB is the recovery of the black box from the accident site at around 5 pm yesterday," the minister added, "the AAIB team believes that this decoding of the black box is going to give a, in depth insight into what would have actually happened during the process of the crash or moments before the crash itself. We are also eagerly waiting for what the results or the report is going to be once the AAIB goes through its full investigation".
