"Very sad to see this," Akhilesh Yadav expresses sorrow on Air India plane crash
Kannauj (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 14 (ANI): Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav expressed deep sorrow on Saturday over the tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad.
Speaking with the media, the SP chief said the incident was very sad and prayed that no such incidents would happen again.
'The incident that happened in Ahmedabad is very sad. It is very sad to see this, and one wonders how this happened. In today's time when technology has become so advanced... the incident is being investigated. When the investigation report comes, the truth will come out, but we pray that such an incident does not happen again,' Akhilesh Yadav said.
The AI-171 Boeing Dreamliner 787-8 aircraft, bound for London's Gatwick, crashed shortly after taking off from the Ahmedabad International Airport on Thursday. The airline said 241 people on board the aircraft died in the crash, while only one passenger survived.
Earlier in the day, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu issued an order to extend the scrutiny of the Boeing Dreamliner 787 series planes present in the Indian Aircraft fleet after the crash.
Naidu further stated that around eight Boeing 787 Series aircraft have already been scrutinised and inspected with immediate urgency.
Addressing a press conference here, the Union Civil Aviation Minister said, 'We have very strict safety standards in the country...When the incident happened, we also felt that there is a need to do an extended surveillance of the Boeing 787 Series. DGCA has also given an order to do the extended surveillance for the Boeing 787 planes. There are 34 in our Indian aircraft fleet today. I believe that 8 have already been inspected, and with immediate urgency, all of them are going to be done.'
'Furthermore, as the investigation is going to proceed and the report is going to come, whatever necessary steps need to be taken, we are going to ensure that without any hesitation, we are going to improve every necessary thing that is going to come our way to improve the safety', he added.
The Union Minister further informed that Air India has been instructed to facilitate the process of assisting the families of the passengers in every possible way. He added that the bodies are being given to the respective families after confirmation from DNA testing and hoped that this process would be completed soon.
The central government has already constituted a high-level multidisciplinary committee for examining the causes leading to the crash of Air India Flight AI-171. (ANI)

Vijay Rupani's Last Rites With Full State Honours, State Mourning For A Day
New Delhi: The state funeral of former Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani, who was killed in the Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crash in Ahmedabad, will be held on Monday with full state honours. A one-day state mourning in memory of the BJP leader will be observed. Three days after the plane crash, the body of the former chief minister was identified after DNA testing. A large team of forensic experts have been working to identify bodies of those killed in one of the worst aviation disasters in India by matching DNA with samples collected from their relatives. DNA-matching is a complex medical and legal process and involves layers of verification. It's only after an elaborate set of tests and confirmation of DNA samples, families are called up and asked to collect the bodies of their loved ones. In some cases, the analysis is repeated due to insufficient DNA material. The identification process can take up to 72 hours. The confirmation of Vijay Rupani's identification was announced by Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi on Sunday morning. The last rites of Vijay Rupani will be done in Rajkot. Gujarat Health Minister Rishikesh Patel earlier on Sunday said the state government will facilitate all the arrangements after the family decides on the funeral proceedings. "Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel and Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi visited late Vijaybhai Rupani ji's residence today and told the family members that his DNA has been confirmed. His family will take call on last rites and final stage preparations for cremation. After consultation with them, all arrangements will be done," Rishikesh Patel said. State MLA Reenaben Patel said a lot of well-wishers and supporters of the former chief minister in Rajkot have been waiting to pay their tributes and bid a final goodbye. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, operating as flight AI171 from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on June 12, crashed immediately after take-off, killing 241 of the 242 people on board. Vijay Rupani was flying to London to meet his wife and daughter.

India Issues Fresh Advisory For Nationals In Israel Amid Iranian Strikes
New Delhi: India on Sunday issued a fresh advisory for nationals in Israel as tensions in the Middle East continued to rise. The Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv asked all Indians to stay vigilant and avoid any unnecessary movement while adhering to the safety protocols issued by the Israeli authorities. "The Embassy of India in Tel Aviv is in touch with members of the Indian community in Israel, including caregivers, workers, students, businessmen and tourist groups. All necessary measures are being taken to ensure their safety and well-being," said the Embassy's statement. It added that India is monitoring the situation closely and is in regular touch with the Israeli authorities. "All Indian nationals are once again advised to stay vigilant, strictly avoid any unnecessary movement and adhere to the safety protocols as advised by the Israeli authorities and home front command ( Safety and security of Indian nationals is most paramount for us," the advisory said. The embassy also issued telephonic (+972 54-7520711 or +972 54-3278392) and email Helplines for any Indians who are in distress in Israel. The advisory came a day after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the evolving situation over Tel Aviv's operation 'Rision Lion'. In an earlier advisory on Saturday, India has asked its nationals in Israel to remain alert and follow local safety and emergency protocols. Israel and Iran, meanwhile, continued to launch fresh attacks on each other into Sunday, killing scores of people on both sides.
