Former Andhra Pradesh cricketer, serial offender caught for impersonating Telangana CMO official
The Hyderabad police, on Thursday, arrested a 32-year-old former Andhra Pradesh cricketer for impersonating a senior official from the office of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and attempting to defraud prominent business figures. The Cyber Crime Police said Budumuru Nagaraju, a former Ranji cricketer, created a fake email ID reventhreddyosd@ and sent fraudulent emails to various business persons while impersonating the Personal Secretary and Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chief Minister of Telangana State. Nagaraju, a Srikakulam native, allegedly used a mix of email, WhatsApp, and phone calls to contact and attempt to deceive his targets, the police said. The police received a complaint from the OSD to the CM of Telangana concerning the fraudulent activity. 'An individual, mobile number 9666349191, is sending fake emails (e.g., from reventhreddyosd@ and making WhatsApp calls, falsely representing themselves as the OSD's Personal Secretary and Officer on Special Duty. One instance involved contacting Krishna Mohan Bollineni, MD of Bollineni Infra Projects,' the complaint said. A case was registered under sections 66C and 66D of the IT Act and 319(2) (cheating by personation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The Srikakulam-native is found to be earlier involved in 13 cases in Telangana and 16 cases in Andhra Pradesh. Additionally, a Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) is pending against him in the XII additional chief metropolitan magistrate court, Nampally, police said. Nagaraju, in earlier instances, posed as high-profile political associates, including the personal secretaries of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, former AP CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, former Telangana minister KT Rama Rao, etc leading to his arrest in multiple cities. According to the police, he targeted several senior businessmen, including managing directors of Rapido, Gupta Realty, and Bollineni Infra Projects, using this fake identity, and attempted to solicit financial assistance under the guise of official requests. The police have issued a public advisory urging citizens to exercise caution and not respond to emails or messages purportedly from senior govt officials requesting financial favours. Cyber crime cops arrest man posing as CM's OSD in online fraud case
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad cyber crime police arrested a 32-year-old man from Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh, involved in social media fraud. He impersonated himself as Personal Secretary and Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chief Minister of Telangana State. The police arrested Budumuru Nagaraju, an Ex cricket player (Andhra), of Srikakulam district. According to the police, the accused had created fake email ID and sent fraudulent emails to various business persons while impersonating the Personal Secretary and OSD to the Chief Minister of Telangana. He was involved in 13 cases in Telangana and 16 cases in Andhra Pradesh. Additionally, a Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) is pending against him in the XII ACMM Court, Nampally. The police received a complaint from OSD to CM of Telangana regarding fake mail IDs and WhatsApp calls, of certain individual with mobile number-9666349191, who falsely claimed complainant's identity as Personal Secretary and OSD to the CM of Telangana. Amongst others, in the latest incident, the offender with the above mobile number had reached out to Krishna Mohan Bollineni, MD Bollineni Infra Projects via the email address [email protected]. On several occasions in the past, it was brought to their attention that the accused had reached out to multiple individuals through email, WhatsApp, and phone calls. These included Aravind Sanka, Managing Director of Rapido; Srinivas Gupta Verrabomma, Chairman of Gupta Realty; Krishna Mohan Bollineni, Managing Director of Bekem Infra Projects Pvt Ltd; Sri Chakradhar and Nitin Koushal, Managing Directors of Country Delight; among others, in an attempt to solicit financial assistance. The DCP of cyber crime said that the accused created fake email IDs and WhatsApp account with the mail ID of persons who are in high positions in government and sent mails, messages, WhatsApp calls to persons who are rich and holding different businesses, companies and are highly reputed in the society, in an effort to solicit financial assistance. Victims of cybercrime or online fraud are advised to immediately call 1930 or visit for assistance and to file a complaint.

Former cricketer arrested for posing as OSD to Telangana CM and duping businessmen
A 32-year-old man was arrested by the cybercrime wing of the Hyderabad police for impersonating a senior government official and attempting to extort money from businesspersons using fake email IDs and WhatsApp accounts. The accused, Budumuru Nagaraju, a former cricketer from Andhra Pradesh and resident of Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh, created the fake email ID and posed as the Personal Secretary and Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chief Minister of Telangana. He used this identity to send fraudulent emails and make WhatsApp calls to several company heads across the country seeking financial help. Investigation revealed that Nagaraju is wanted in at least 29 criminal cases, including 13 in Telangana and 16 in Andhra Pradesh. A non-bailable warrant is pending against him in a 2020 cyber crime case in Hyderabad. In the latest case, he targeted Krishna Mohan Bollineni, Managing Director of Bollineni Infra Projects, by sending emails pretending to be the CM's OSD. Similar attempts were made with other top executives, including Rapido MD Aravind Sanka, Gupta Realty Chairman Srinivas Gupta, and Country Delight Directors Chakradhar and Nitin Koushal, among others. Police explain how he created a fake email and WhatsApp accounts using names of high-ranking government officials, then reached out to wealthy businessmen requesting money. Police seized a mobile phone from his possession and have initiated a probe.
