A 32-year-old man was arrested by the cybercrime wing of the Hyderabad police for impersonating a senior government official and attempting to extort money from businesspersons using fake email IDs and WhatsApp accounts.
The accused, Budumuru Nagaraju, a former cricketer from Andhra Pradesh and resident of Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh, created the fake email ID and posed as the Personal Secretary and Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chief Minister of Telangana. He used this identity to send fraudulent emails and make WhatsApp calls to several company heads across the country seeking financial help. Investigation revealed that Nagaraju is wanted in at least 29 criminal cases, including 13 in Telangana and 16 in Andhra Pradesh. A non-bailable warrant is pending against him in a 2020 cyber crime case in Hyderabad.
In the latest case, he targeted Krishna Mohan Bollineni, Managing Director of Bollineni Infra Projects, by sending emails pretending to be the CM's OSD. Similar attempts were made with other top executives, including Rapido MD Aravind Sanka, Gupta Realty Chairman Srinivas Gupta, and Country Delight Directors Chakradhar and Nitin Koushal, among others.
Police explain how he created a fake email and WhatsApp accounts using names of high-ranking government officials, then reached out to wealthy businessmen requesting money. Police seized a mobile phone from his possession and have initiated a probe.

'Baby, We're Ordering That Pill': 15-Year-Old Girl's Secret Chats Shock Brother, Reddit Reacts

Last Updated: A teen's private WhatsApp chat left open on a laptop led her brother to discover a troubling relationship, prompting concerns about family responsibility and youth vulnerability The responsibility of raising and guiding children does not rest solely on parents but extends to every member of the family. A supportive and open home environment is vital to help young people navigate the complexities of adolescence. However, not all feel safe enough to share their struggles. In today's digital age, many youths are increasingly influenced by external forces – peers, online communities, or manipulative individuals – who may lead them astray. As a result, instead of turning to their families, some choose secrecy, hiding important aspects of their lives out of fear, confusion, or misplaced trust. In a recent case, a young man uncovered disturbing information about his sister after she inadvertently left her WhatsApp account logged in on his laptop. Shocked by what he read, he turned to social media to share his experience. Disturbing Details Shared Online A Reddit user, posting under the handle @babidi_bada_boom-500 in the group r/indiasocial, detailed a harrowing experience involving his 15-year-old sister. Accompanying the post was an image of the WhatsApp interface, revealing the source of his distress. The user explained that his sister had accessed WhatsApp on his laptop and failed to log out. Upon opening it, he found private messages, presumably from her boyfriend, that left him stunned. 'I feel my family has failed, I have failed as a brother, and my parents have failed in raising my sister. I cannot describe the pain I feel after seeing this," he wrote. The user stated that he recognised the name of the boy his sister had been speaking to, someone he had previously warned to stay away due to inappropriate behaviour. He was particularly distressed to find the boy persuading his sister to convert to Christianity and noted that his sister appeared complicit in the exchange. The WhatsApp conversation also alluded to the boy procuring medication, implying the couple may have engaged in unprotected sexual activity. While uncertain about the exact nature of the medicine, the brother was deeply troubled and turned to the online community for guidance on how to proceed. First Published: June 06, 2025, 14:27 IST
