Lieutenant Governer Antonio Delgado coming to Binghamton

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – New York's number two in charge is coming to Binghamton on Thursday as he works to raise his public profile in advance of a possible challenge to his boss next year. Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado is scheduled to join Citizen Action during a rally to protest possible federal cuts to Medicaid. Delgado recently announced that he would not run again for Lieutenant Governor on the same ticket as Governor Hochul in next year's election. He also has not ruled out running against Hochul in a Democratic primary next year. Delgado was initially appointed Lieutenant Gov in May of 2022, after the previous number two Brian Benjamin was removed while facing corruption charges. At the time, Delgado represented the old 19th District in Congress which stretched into the Broome County Town of Sanford on its western edge. Thursday's Citizen Action protest is scheduled for 4 p.m. in front of the Broome County Department of Social Services on Main Street in Binghamton. Senator Webb hosting Earth Day art contest

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Senator Lea Webb is asking student artists to participate in an Earth Day celebration. Webb is seeking submissions for her Earth Day Student Showcase. This year's theme is 'Our Power, Our Planet!' Through the initiative, Webb aims to emphasize the importance of recycling and waste reduction while encouraging the exchange of ideas about recycling and waste reduction among schools, children, and adults. Children from grades K-12 are encouraged to participate by submitting a poster that could be used during the campaign. All students who participate will be awarded a certificate of recognition from Webb. 'This Earth Day, we have a unique opportunity to empower the next generation of environmental stewards,' said Webb. 'Our theme, 'Our Power, Our Planet,' isn't just about raising awareness—it's about inspiring action. By teaching our children to recycle, reduce waste, and think creatively about solutions, we're building a future where every small effort adds up to a big impact. Together, we can show our students that protecting the Earth is not just an obligation, but a privilege.' All submissions must be made by April 11. To submit your art, click here.
