FHLB Dallas and Bonvenu Bank Award $351K to Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West

Funds Address Critical Need for Repairs and Storm-Resistant Roofs MANDEVILLE, La., May 22, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Representatives from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) and Bonvenu Bank (Bonvenu) celebrated awarding $351,264 in FHLB Dallas FORTIFIED and Disaster Rebuilding Assistance (DRA) grants at a media event today celebrating the grand opening of Bonvenu's new branch in Mandeville, Louisiana. The funds, which were awarded through FHLB Dallas member Bonvenu, will be used to make repairs for low-income households in Louisiana. Terri Gage, president and CEO of Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West, says that without the funds, many residents would not be able to afford to repair their homes. "In Louisiana we are finding more and more need for repairs to homes," she said. "I can't stress enough the importance of the funding. Not only do we have a significant insurance crisis in Louisiana, it's also a real struggle for low-income families to maintain their homes. The FHLB Dallas FORTIFIED Fund helps so many families in different ways." FORTIFIED roofs are installed to withstand damage from high wind, hail and thunderstorms. Homeowners can qualify for FHLB Dallas FORTIFIED Fund grants up to $15,000 for roof replacements and up to $7,500 for roofs on new construction. In 2025, $10 million is available through member institutions within the FHLB Dallas District of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico and Texas. For 2025, FHLB Dallas set aside $4 million of its AHP allocation for the DRA program. As an example of how the DRA funds are used, an elderly local homeowner whose home was damaged by Hurricane Ida three and a half years ago was awarded $14,974 in DRA funds to repair significant roof and window damage. The FHLB Dallas DRA program provides grants for the repair, rehabilitation and reconstruction of owner-occupied housing affected by a disaster event in a federally declared disaster area within the FHLB Dallas District. "This funding is extremely important for low-income homeowners in St. Tammany Parish and throughout Louisiana," said Michael Colston, vice president and community development officer at Bonvenu Bank. "We are excited to be a part of this program and stand ready to help communities with our available resources." "Bonvenu has been a strong partner of FHLB Dallas," said Greg Hettrick, senior vice president and director of Community Investment at FHLB Dallas. "These funds have the potential to help so many residents ensure that their homes are secure and able to withstand what storms may come." Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas and Bonvenu Bank Award $50K in Grants to Two Louisiana Nonprofits

Funds Will Be Used for Financial Property Education, Will Planning and Legal Clinics BATON ROUGE, La., February 13, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas), through its member Bonvenu Bank, awarded $50,000 in Heirs' Property Program grants to two organizations that support resolving heirs' property issues in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana, area. The BRidge Agency and EnvisioNBR each received a $25,000 grant at a ceremonial check presentation today. The funds will be used to assist low-income families to resolve heirs' property title issues. The BRidge Agency grant will be used in part to implement the "Legacy Literacy 4 All" initiative, which focuses on providing marginalized communities in Baton Rouge with education and awareness about executing wills and deeds, as well as property financial literacy. "This grant will enable us to leverage the expertise of pro bono board members in financial literacy and real estate, train community leaders as advocates and establish a resource hub for ongoing support, ensuring the program's sustainability and long-term impact," said The BRidge Agency Founder and Executive Director Nicole Scott. The EnvisioNBR grant will fund resources for will planning and hosting community legal clinics to help protect family legacies in the neighborhoods of Bogan Walk, Easy Town, Eden Park and Greenville Extension. "This grant will preserve homeownership, empower residents to secure their futures and build a stronger North Baton Rouge for generations to come," said Founding Executive Director of EnvisioNBR Ashlé Young. Heirs' property refers to property inherited without a will or legal documentation of ownership. As property is passed down, each successive generation typically results in more heirs being added to the inheritance. The absence of a deed or will can make it more complicated to obtain a clear title to land or homes as time passes. "We are so pleased to be a part of this program," said Michael Colston, VP community development officer and business banker at Bonvenu Bank. "Helping Louisianans with home ownership benefits not only the families involved, but the community as a whole. We hope to be a part of it for many years to come." In 2024, FHLB Dallas and 20 participating members awarded $2 million to 33 organizations in our five-state region. The funding will help clear an estimated 560 titles and assist more than 5,670 people with training and education regarding heirs' issues. "The Heirs' Property Program enables families to protect their legacy and secure their future," said Greg Hettrick, senior vice president and director of Community Investment at FHLB Dallas.
