Man charged in Watauga County methamphetamine bust
A man was charged with two counts of felony trafficking of methamphetamine and one felony maintaining a vehicle to store controlled substances on Friday, according to the Boone Police Department. Christopher Wayne Ellison, 36, was arrested Monday along with 30-year-old Destiny Amber Salmons, according to a release from Boone PD. Police said they stopped the pair in the parking lot of United Muffler in Boone where a K-9 alerted officials to the drugs inside their car. Inside, they found 52 grams of suspected methamphetamine and narcotics paraphernalia, according to police. Officers said Salmons was charged with felony trafficking in methamphetamine and felony possession with intent to sell. Ellison's latest charges come in addition to his initial charges of misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia, officials said. The Boone man received an additional $500,000 secured bond. Greensboro man charged with DWI after hitting bicyclist with truck in Boone, leaving scene
BOONE, N.C. (WGHP) — A Greensboro man is facing several felony charges after allegedly hitting a bicyclist and leaving the scene while driving impaired, according to the Boone Police Department. On Thursday, Boone officers came to the area of US 421 and Bamboo Road after getting a report of a crash involving a bicycle. At the scene, police found the bicyclist suffering from serious injuries. Greensboro man accused of strangling Uber driver, attacking security guard Investigators say that the suspect vehicle, an older model GMC Sierra truck, left the scene of the crash and was later pulled over by a Watauga County Sheriff's Office deputy. The driver of the truck was identified as Alejandro Facundo, 21, of Greensboro. He is being charged with felony hit-and-run, driving while impaired, driving while license revoked, operating a vehicle without two headlamps and mirror violation. Boone man killed in Thursday morning crash on Highway 30
BOONE COUNTY, Iowa — A Boone man was killed in a crash on Highway 30 Thursday morning. At around 8:23 a.m. the Boone County Sheriff's Office and multiple other agencies responded to a report of a crash at the intersection of Montana Road and Highway 30, just southwest of Boone, involving a Ford Ranger and Ford Mustang. According to an Iowa State Patrol crash report, the Ford Ranger was traveling southbound on Montana Road and failed to yield to a Mustang that was traveling eastbound on Highway 30, and the two vehicles collided. Former Marshalltown substitute teacher accused of sexually exploiting student The driver of the Ranger, identified as 89-year-old Dale Ray Crouse of Boone, was transported to a nearby hospital but later died from his injuries, according to the sheriff's office. No other injuries were reported. Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Boone County Sheriff's Office, Boone Police Department, Boone Fire Department, and personnel from the Boone County Hospital. The Iowa State Patrol will be handling the investigation into the crash. Man arrested for fraudulent activities with two hotels in Boone, police say
A 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with fraudulent activities with two hotels, according to the Boone Police Department. Police said an investigation revealed Corey Paul Connelly had illegally obtained financial information from clients of a business he was once employed at. On Feb. 19 and Feb. 21, Connelly used stolen credit card information to obtain property valued at $34,216.03 from one hotel and $26,407 from another hotel, according to police. Police said some of that financial information was illegally obtained from various businesses and individuals engaged in relief work following Hurricane Helene. He was also charged with felonious possession of methamphetamine. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond.
