Festival operations closed as unfavorable weather hits Boots and Hearts Music Festival
Simcoe County is under a rainfall warning. Environment Canada says 50 millimetres of rain is possible on Friday, with thunderstorms and heavy downpours expected throughout the afternoon. According to the national weather agency, 'slow-moving showers and thunderstorms will continue to move through the region producing locally heavy rainfall amounts.' The conditions are being watched closely. In response to the unfavorable weather, Boots and Hearts Music Festival organizers in Oro-Medonte announced a delayed opening of the entertainment area gates on Friday. Just after 2 p.m., the official Boots and Hearts account posted to X 'Delayed opening! Due to expected weather conditions, entertainment area gates are being held. We will continue to monitor the weather and advise when gates are opening.' The festival issued another update asking attendees to seek shelter. 'Weather update, seek shelter. Due to weather we are asking fans to seek safe shelter.' Just before 3 p.m., the festival announced that operations are closed. 'We will continue to monitor the weather situation and provide further updates,' the team stated. Environment Canada says heavy rain, hail, wind, and lightning poses a serious risk to outdoor activities. Drivers are being warned to take extra caution when out on wet roads.

The gates at Boots and Hearts have been open since 2 p.m. on Thursday, meaning fans and campers have been pouring in throughout the afternoon. Thursday's lineup kicked off with the Emerging Artist Showcase, which featured a variety of Canadian country talents. They will be followed by Sarah Vanderzwan and Tyler Joe Miller, who performed at Kempenfest last year. Then, headliner Justin Moore will take the stage just after 9:30 p.m. Brooke Dunford, Republic Live Director of Booking, said, 'Justin Moore is an incredible artist. He's got so many number ones in Canada, and he has been for a while, so the fans are very excited and our very own Tyler Joe Miller he's had nine Top 10s. He's on top of the Canadian country scene right now, so he brings the best party.' Friday's headliner, Bailey Zimmerman, might also be making a surprise appearance Thursday night.
