Miri City Council launches Sarawak's first parking e-Compound system

MIRI (Aug 18): The Miri City Council (MCC) has launched the e-Compound system, the first of its kind in Sarawak, aimed at providing faster, more convenient and more transparent parking services for Mirians.
According to Pujut assemblyman Mayor Adam Yii, the system enables the council's parking officers to issue notices instantly using handheld devices, with the information recorded securely in the central system in real time.
'This means faster services, eco-green-friendlier, and more accuracy,' he told reporters after officiating at the launch of the system at Miri Marina Phase 2 today.
He said the pilot project will kick off at Marina Phase 1 and Phase 2, two high-traffic areas expected to significantly benefitted from the new system.
'Once the system is refined in these two areas, it will be expanded to more areas across the city.
'If you receive a parking notice, you can verify and pay it easily via our official mobile app, the 'Borneo Park Miri'.
'This gives motorists the flexibility to handle their parking matters anytime, anywhere, without the need to queue at the parking booth counters.'
Yii assured the public and visitors alike that had always MCC prioritised transparency and security.
'We know that in this digital era, public trust and security are essential.
'That is why every official parking e-compound notice will include MCC official logo, compound number, vehicle number as well as the model of the vehicle.
'The notice will also show the exact timestamp and location details for full transparency and at the same time, it will also state specific type of offence committed, as defined under The Road Transport (Provision of Parking Places) (Miri City Council) Order, 2006,' said the mayor.
