Brantley Gilbert pauses concert for ‘technical difficulty' no one saw coming
Brantley Gilbert is proving that technical difficulties aren't always a bad thing. The 40-year-old country music singer was in the middle of a concert this past weekend when he brought the show to a halt due to 'a little technical difficulty.' He then invited one of his staff members, Brandon, onto the stage and fiddled with a small device for a few moments before asking Brandon's then-girlfriend, Lia, to join them. 'Sorry, this may be a little unprofessional,' Gilbert said into the microphone with a confused Lia by his side. 'This is one of my guy's girlfriends here. She's going to kind of help us figure this (out),' Gilbert added. As Gilbert was talking to Lia, Brandon was getting down on one knee behind her. As the crowd started roaring, Lia put her hand over her mouth as she put two and two together. Lia was crouching down in disbelief as Brandon asked his now-fiancée to marry him before replying 'yes' into the microphone. Gilbert shared a video of the on-stage proposal on his Instagram page with his hit song 'She's The One' playing in the background. 'A member of our road family popped the question at a show this weekend… A big congrats to one of our very own, @bubblescullop and Lia!' Gilbert wrote in the caption. Gilbert had an after party planned backstage with champagne and a big sign that read 'Just Engaged.' Fans praised the 'Bottoms Up' singer for helping his crew member form a lasting memory with his soon-to-be wife. 'Taking care of the crew that takes care of you…awesome to see,' one fan wrote in the comment section. 'With an after party too boot. Love it! Congrats to y'all!' Another fan was impressed by the singer's sneaky touch as he handed the microphone to Brandon behind his back while Lia was distracted. 'The microphone hand off was the best!' the fan wrote on Instagram. Other fans were happy to see Gilbert continuing his history of surprises at his concerts. In 2017, the 'Small Town Throwdown' crooner paused his show at Darien Lake in Western New York after seeing one of his fans, Justin Orth, preparing to propose to his girlfriend in the crowd, according to Taste of Country. Gilbert had his cameramen put the couple on the big screen so the entire arena could witness the moment. Last year, Gilbert kept the surprises coming with a moment near and dear to his family. While performing in Tupelo, Mississippi, as part of his 2024 Off the Rails Tour, Gilbert abruptly left the stage after learning his wife, Amber, went into labor. Gilbert returned to the stage about an hour later, according to Taste of Country, and shared with the audience that he just helped his wife give birth to their third child on the tour bus. 'We got a baby in Mississippi!' Gilbert said into the microphone as he wiped tears from his eyes and hugged his band members. Gilbert opened up about the precious moment in an Instagram post, calling it the 'craziest night of my life.' 'Watching such an amazing woman do such an amazing thing is something I'll never forget,' he wrote in the caption. He thanked his road family, the city of Tupelo and their midwife before sending a special message to his wife. 'And most of all… Amber Gilbert, for letting me love you and showing me EXACTLY how incredibly strong a woman can be. I love you,' he wrote. Gilbert met his wife in 2005, proposed in 2014 and tied the knot in 2015, according to Us Weekly. The pair welcomed their first child, son Barrett Hardy-Clay Gilbert, in November 2017 and second child, daughter Braylen, in September 2019. Their second son Abram Howell Gilbert was born in October 2024.
