French side Rennes edged out Marseille on Saturday at the Roazhon Park in the opening game of the Ligue 1 despite the hosts suffering a man disadvantage following Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal's sending off in the first half.
Boudlal was given the marching orders just past the half-hour mark, but Rennes dug out a triumph thanks to Ludovic Blas's late strike in second-half stoppage time.
The opening game of the 2025/26 season seemed destined for a goalless draw until Ludovic Blas clinched the injury-time winner, just six minutes after coming on.
Rennes, the home side, were reduced to ten men in the 31st minute when Moroccan teenager Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal was sent off for a foul on Michael Murillo.
Marseille will be frustrated after hitting the post twice through Adrien Rabiot and Murillo, but they failed to capitalize on their numerical advantage.
