Bournemouth radio station expands its digital reach across the south
A BOURNEMOUTH radio station has expanded its digital coverage across the south. Bournemouth One, the local radio station serving Bournemouth and surrounding areas, is now accessible on Freeview Play channel 277. This expansion allows listeners with compatible Freeview Play or Freely smart TVs to tune in directly via their television sets in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, along with parts of Wiltshire and West Sussex. Launched on New Year's Day 2024, Bournemouth One has steadily grown its audience to 25,000 last quarter, initially through online streaming and later via DAB Digital Radio across Dorset. Station co-founder Sophie Greenwood: "As a truly digital-first radio station, it's only natural we are available on as many digital platforms as possible, and radio on the TV is another great place to experience the best songs on the radio for offices, shops and homes. Bournemouth One wins gold at Bournemouth Business Awards 2025
BOURNEMOUTH-based commercial radio station Bournemouth One has been awarded gold for Best New Business at the prestigious Bournemouth Business Awards 2025. The station, which launched in 2024, was anonymously nominated for the award, with supporters praising it as 'totally brilliant at what they do' and highlighting its local and relevant content. Bournemouth One provides a mix of hit music, local news, and traffic updates, alongside an advertising platform tailored to Dorset-based businesses. Founded by experienced radio executives Sophie Greenwood and Roy Martin, the station has quickly become a staple in the local media landscape, broadcasting across Dorset on DAB radio. Accepting the award at the event held at Bournemouth Pier, co-founder Sophie Greenwood expressed her pride in the station's community-driven mission, she said: "We're very proud to be community-focused, with local and relevant information every 20 minutes. "There has been a lot of work that's gone into the station, I'm very proud of what we've achieved and honoured to receive this Gold award today.'
