Johnson Health Tech Trading, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), has issued a voluntary recall of approximately 3.8 million BowFlex 552 and 1090 adjustable dumbbells due to an impact hazard. The model 552 adjusts from 5 to 52.5 pounds, and the model 1090 adjusts from 10 to 90 pounds using manual adjustment knobs while nested in the base. The model and serial numbers are printed on a sticker on the bottom of the plastic tray. A full list of affected serial numbers is available at 'BowFlex Inc. filed for bankruptcy protection in March 2024,' the CPSC stated. 'Johnson Health Tech Trading has agreed to provide a remedy for the 552 and 1090 adjustable dumbbells sold by BowFlex Inc., (formerly Nautilus Inc.), prior to May 2024 as a part of this recall.' Johnson Health Tech Trading reported 12 incidents of plates dislodging with no injuries for the units it sold. Nautilus reported 337 incidents, including 111 injuries such as concussions, abrasions, broken toes, or contusions.
