Conor Benn contradicts himself over Chris Eubank Jr fight ahead of rematch
Conor Benn took on Chris Eubank Jr in a hotly-anticipated grudge match back in April, with the latter getting his hand raised on points - but the Destroyer is adamant he won the fight Conor Benn has claimed he still hasn't watched any footage of his fight with Chris Eubank Jr, despite initially saying he had reviewed the bout immediately after it took place. The British boxing rivals clashed in an epic middleweight contest at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London in April, with Eubank Jr ultimately emerging victorious on points. The pair are set to face off again in a highly anticipated rematch on September 20, as part of the Riyadh Season event promoted by Sela, Boxxer, and Matchroom. As both fighters begin their training for the sequel, it's likely they'll scrutinise the first fight to identify areas for improvement. However, Benn's claim that he's yet to watch the fight footage contradicts his initial statement made just a day after the bout, where he said: "I watched the fight back. I personally had me up by a point I would not have moaned at a point either way. Four points is a bit wide in my opinion." During a chat with Carl Froch, Benn now claims he hasn't yet rewatched their earlier bout: "I have not watched it back. I cannot... not at the minute! I want to enjoy my summer," he said. Their initial bout was nothing short of a blockbuster 'Fight of the Year' candidate in north London. The upcoming rematch is set to line their pockets even more than before, reports All Out Fighting. Reports surfaced prior to their first face-off, suggesting the total purse stood at £15m with a 50/50 division, which meant they pocketed a cool £7.5m each—making it the heftiest payday of their careers so far. But now, it appears they're set for an even fatter paycheck. In his conversation with Boxing King Media, Benn appeared to spill the beans on the fight's financial terms. Addressing whether Eubank Jr's weight cut concerned him, Benn dismissed it with blunt indifference: "I do not care about him. I do not care about him cutting weight. He is getting paid an absolute fortune. People do that for ten grand, he is getting paid 10 million." Ahead of the eagerly anticipated second showdown, boxing promoter Eddie Hearn spoke of venue prospects, hinting at possibly using Tottenham or Wembley. Hearn shared his thoughts: "Spurs is contracted - it's a fantastic stadium and it worked extremely well the first time. Obviously, it was sold out and this fight's even bigger, so you could possibly look at Wembley to increase the capacity, but that will be a decision for His Excellency and Ring Magazine to make the final call."

He said: "At this time, Mario Barrios is going to face Manny Pacquiao in July. He (Pacquiao) wants to retire as the welterweight champion, so he's fighting in the welterweight division." Why Chris Eubank wears a sheriff badge
Chris Eubank made a shock appearance to reunite with his son ahead of Chris Eubank Jr's fight with Conor Benn on Saturday night. The 58-year-old was adamant that he would not attend the fight due to concerns over the weight of the fighters, while he also called his son a 'disgrace' for cracking an egg across Benns head during a wild press conference in February. However, Eubank drew a huge cheer from the crowd at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during the undercard on Saturday as the cameras showed him walking towards the dressing room with his son by his side. 'I was always coming, this is a show, right?' Eubank told Boxing King Media. 'So there's an element called suspense, so, now you've felt it, okay.' Asked about the crowd's reaction, Eubank replied: 'I'm going to have to look at that. 'I don't know why I didn't hear it, my hearing is known to be exceptional. How I didn't hear it I don't know. I think I suppose I was pre-occupied in mind.' Eubank was also seen wearing his iconic sheriff badge on his chest. In 2018, Eubank was made a certified law enforcement marshal in the United States as he worked as a police marshal in Opelousas, Louisiana. In a post on social media at the scene of a car crash, Eubank wrote: 'Sergeant Eubank proudly on duty in Louisiana. 'All warriors protect and serve, whether one wears a badge or not.' In an appearance alongside his son on ITV's This Morning, Eubank Snr elaborated further on his police work in the United States. 'I do work there with the police force, I'm a Sergeant there now,' Eubank said. 'I'm there on average one week of every month and it is fulfilling work. 'An official position by a court of law as a deputy marshall. More Trending 'It's about me speaking to youngsters and keeping them away from the penal system. 'When I wear this [badge], it's saying protect and serve the people. 'If my daughter gets hurt in the community, it's only a matter of chance that it wasn't your daughter, so then it's only a matter of time. 'We all must look after each other.' Billy Joe Saunders barred from Chris Eubank Jr dressing room before Benn fight
Billy Joe Saunders was involved in a heated exchange with security staff as he attempted to gain access to Chris Eubank Jr's dressing room before his fight with Conor Benn on Saturday night. Saunders beat Eubank Jr via split decision in 2014 and has been vocal in his dislike of the 35-year-old since their fight. The former WBO middleweight and super-middleweight champion has not fought since his defeat to Canelo Alvarez in Texas in 2021. Saunders was in attendance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday and attempted to make his way into Eubank Jr's dressing room. But as he got to the door, a member of Eubank Jr's entourage approached Saunders and asked: 'What's happening, Billy?' Saunders replied: 'No cheating lads, we want fair wrapping, no cheating.' Saunders was then involved in a heated exchange with a member of Eubank Jr's security staff, telling the man that he is 'a nobody'. In a separate interview before the fight, Saunders again accused the Eubank Jr camp of cheating. 'We're all participants of the sport, I just want to make sure it's fair, making sure there's no stacking going on,' he told Boxing King Media. Saunders also revealed that he has held talks over a potential rematch with Eubank Jr. 'I don't really go to boxing shows but obviously it's a big fight, Conor Benn is a good mate of mine, and I want to see him knock him out cold tonight,' Saunders told talkSPORT. More Trending 'That's why I'm here tonight, to see him get clattered. 'We agreed to meet them [Eubank Jr's team], sat down, everything was discussed, then they offered me extremely good money to fight in September, but not a warm-up, to jump straight in in December. 'I'm not here to grab the money and jump in and put a disadvantage on myself, no. I want a fair playing field, I'll beat you. It doesn't bother me if I don't box again, but if you want a chance of that, I said to them I want a warm-up fight, then I'll take it. 'Not just have an eight, ten-week training camp, chop five stone off and we'll see you in the ring.' For more stories like this, check our sport page.
