HK star Steven Cheung pleads for job opportunity as family struggles financially

Hong Kong singer Steven Cheung has struggled to land performance gigs since a 2019 scandal. Photo: Steven Cheung/Instagram Despite his efforts to provide for his family, Hong Kong singer Steven Cheung remains caught in a difficult struggle for financial stability. On Sunday (May 25), Cheung, 40, made a plea on his Instagram Story, writing: 'I'm in urgent need of a job opportunity, requiring HK$6,800 (RM3,648) today. Help me.' Not long after, his wife Au Yin Man, made a post of her own on Instagram, sharing: 'Just a little effort can bring about a change in life. Sometimes, it's not enough.' The couple has four sons aged between one and five. Earlier this month, Au, 33, revealed that their monthly rent amounts to HK$15,000 (RM8,049). She said then that the family had already fallen a month and a half behind on payments and risks eviction if the outstanding amount isn't cleared by the end of the month. Cheung, who was part of the Cantopop duo Boyz, has taken on various jobs to make ends meet in recent years. Among them include cable wiring, construction work, distributing fliers and condoms, as well as making food delivery orders. The singer has struggled to land performance gigs since a 2019 scandal, when he announced his marriage to Au while still dating Hong Kong actress April Leung.

Perrie Edwards Admits She's Still Moved To Tears By Jesy Nelson Rift

Perrie Edwards has admitted that she still has an emotional reaction when she reflects on the rift between herself and her former bandmate Jesy Nelson. The two singers spent almost a decade together in the chart-topping pop group Little Mix, who were put together on the eighth season of The X Factor in 2011, and went on to score five UK number one singles. In 2020, Jesy made headlines when she announced she was parting ways with the group, having previously spoken candidly about the toll that being part of a girl band had on her mental health. While initially this split was reported to be a harmonious one, this proved not to be the case as time went on, and the remaining three members of Little Mix have not spoken to Jesy since her departure from the band. Over the weekend, an interview with Perrie and Alison Hammond aired on the latter's new show Alison Hammond's Big Weekend, in which they briefly touched on the fall-out. The Forget About Us singer admitted that she, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock 'talk about' Jesy's exit 'a lot', adding: 'But I think in the moment, we did everything we could. So, some things just happen. It is really sad.' Confirming that she and Jesy haven't spoken in almost five years, she told the This Morning star: 'We haven't spoken since she left. It's heartbreaking, isn't it? 'I wrote a song about it, and every time I listen to it I cry. I think losing a friend in that same dynamic and in that same world, is just as bad [as breaking up with a romantic partner], if not worse.' A year after Jesy's exit from Little Mix, the release of her debut solo single Boyz sparked accusations of Blackfishing. Reports around this time claimed that her ex-bandmates had all unfollowed Jesy on social media, though unverified 'leaked' DMs reportedly sent by Leigh-Anne Pinnock to a TikTok user later suggested that Jesy had, in fact, blocked the trio. These alleged messages were never confirmed to be accurate, nor did Leigh-Anne ever comment on them directly. However, they did end up forming a major part of the conversation during an ill-fated Instagram live-stream Jesy took part in with her Boyz collaborator Nicki Minaj, in which the rapper branded Leigh-Anne a 'fucking clown' and accused her of being 'jealous' of Jesy. Last week, Jesy became a mum to twin girls, who she has named Ocean Jade and Story Monroe. Former Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson ‘so blessed' after birth of twins

Nelson, 33, said her and her partner Zion Foster's twins had been named Ocean Jade and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster, and they were born on Thursday, in a post on Instagram. Nelson said: 'So, our beautiful baby girls decided to come at 31 weeks plus five days. It all happened so quickly, but we are so blessed that they are here with us, healthy and fighting strong. 'We've never felt more in love.' Nelson said in March that she had undergone a 'successful' operation to prevent complications related to twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), which affects identical twins who share a placenta. She had said: 'Hey guys, so we just wanted to give you guys an update, because we know it's been a while. 'I don't know if you can see, we are still in hospital so I've been recovering, but we have some amazing news. 'The TTTS has cleared up, the operation was a success, which is just absolutely incredible. We are so, so lucky to have the most amazing doctors. 'Basically, the situation we're in now is my cervix is very, very short, so I can't leave the hospital because my waters could break at any point and I'm still very, very early. 'I can't leave the hospital until I'm a certain amount of weeks, so every week we're just like, 'please, please, please, stay in there'.' Nelson announced her pregnancy in January. She has previously said her twins were monochorionic diamniotic (MCDA), meaning they share a single placenta but have their own separate sacs. According to the NHS website, TTTS affects 10 to 15pc of identical twins who share a placenta, and it 'can have serious consequences'. ADVERTISEMENT The condition is caused by abnormal connecting blood vessels in the twins' placenta which leads to an imbalanced blood flow from one twin, known as the donor, to the recipient twin, leaving one baby with a greater blood volume than the other. The singer left Little Mix in December 2020 after nine years in the successful girl group, which was formed on The X Factor in 2011, and also featured Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall. After she left, Nelson released her first solo single, Boyz, featuring Nicki Minaj, in 2021, followed by Bad Thing in 2023.
