Two new names appear on Texas A&M's injury report before facing Georgia
Two new names appear on Texas A&M's injury report before facing Georgia Texas A&M (27-23, 10-17 SEC) has arrived in Athens (GA) and is set to take on the No. 10-ranked Georgia Bulldogs, starting on Thursday night during the final regular season series for both squads. On one side, Georgia is one of the best-hitting teams in the country, and with 40 wins on the year, are headed back to the NCAA Tournament and will host a Regional. On the other side, Texas A&M collapsed last weekend against last-place Missouri, allowing the Tigers, one of the worst teams in the country to sweep the Aggies in Blue Bell Park, which, after winning series over Tennessee, Arkansas, and LSU this season, seemed highly improbable given A&M's talent advantage and experience. However, that's baseball, but the sweep has placed Texas A&M in unwanted territory concerning the NCAA Tournament, dropping to No. 59 in the RPI, and will need to sweep the Bulldogs and win a handful of games in the SEC Tournament next week to have a chance at making it to the regional round. While some in the Aggie fan base have lost hope, this team deserves a chance to fight for a postseason spot, so it's up to every young man on the roster to collectively play their best baseball right now. Injury-wise, the latest SEC Availability report ahead of Thursday's game shows two bullpen arms, Brad Rudis (Questionable) and Kaeden Wilson (Probable) as the only new additions, which is good news for a team that needs to be in full health to reestablish momentum. 'Tomorrow's a new day ' Texas A&M RHP Brad Rudis speaks after Game 2 loss to Missouri
'Tomorrow's a new day ' Texas A&M RHP Brad Rudis speaks after Game 2 loss to Missouri When Texas A&M needed their batters to step up the most, they failed. There is enough blame to go around, and with how good they have been playing over the last month and a half, a bad series was in the cards. Unfortunately for the Aggies they have no room for error. Coming into the series, A&M needed to win at least two games to go into the final week of regular season play with a solid chance to make the NCAA tournament. However, the weekend turned into a disaster as they dropped both games to a struggling Missouri team with the worst pitching ERA in the conference. The Aggie pitching staff did well enough in game two, allowing A&M a chance to get back into the game, but it never materialized. Senior Day was lost amid this embarrassing loss, where several Aggies were honored, including Brad Rudis. He spoke after the game and what it meant to him, being that it's probably the last time he will throw a collegiate pitch at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park. "I mean, really special day for me and my family, I probably the last outing I'll have here as an Aggie, so it was a really special day, obviously, the game wasn't what we wanted, but tomorrow's a new day." The series loss is a major blow to their postseason aspirations, but they do not have any time to dwell on the recent past and have to get on track for the remaining four games. A short memory is paramount moving forward in the last week of the regular season. "We have a lot of experienced guys, I think we know what it takes to win, we know what it takes to get to Ohama and obviously that's the end goal but right now we just have to take it one game at a time."
