'Tomorrow's a new day ' Texas A&M RHP Brad Rudis speaks after Game 2 loss to Missouri
When Texas A&M needed their batters to step up the most, they failed. There is enough blame to go around, and with how good they have been playing over the last month and a half, a bad series was in the cards. Unfortunately for the Aggies they have no room for error.
Coming into the series, A&M needed to win at least two games to go into the final week of regular season play with a solid chance to make the NCAA tournament. However, the weekend turned into a disaster as they dropped both games to a struggling Missouri team with the worst pitching ERA in the conference.
The Aggie pitching staff did well enough in game two, allowing A&M a chance to get back into the game, but it never materialized. Senior Day was lost amid this embarrassing loss, where several Aggies were honored, including Brad Rudis. He spoke after the game and what it meant to him, being that it's probably the last time he will throw a collegiate pitch at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
"I mean, really special day for me and my family, I probably the last outing I'll have here as an Aggie, so it was a really special day, obviously, the game wasn't what we wanted, but tomorrow's a new day."
The series loss is a major blow to their postseason aspirations, but they do not have any time to dwell on the recent past and have to get on track for the remaining four games. A short memory is paramount moving forward in the last week of the regular season.
"We have a lot of experienced guys, I think we know what it takes to win, we know what it takes to get to Ohama and obviously that's the end goal but right now we just have to take it one game at a time."
Below is the full press conference after Game 2 of the Missouri series.

Tragedy at Welland motorcycle track: 29-year-old rider killed in Open Expert feature

Motorcycle racing at Welland County Speedway has been postponed indefinitely following the death of a Canadian championship-calibre rider in Saturday night's premier race. Two laps were remaining in the four-lap 450 Expert feature when Tyler Seguin got 'tangled up' with other racers in the field of eight. 'Tyler was in fifth place, he took the inside and they got tangled up,' said Jack Wilson, president of Welland County Motorcycle Club, which owns and operates the quarter-mile clay track on Netherby Road. Seguin, 29, of Welland died at the scene. Tyler Seguin, right, is interviewed after winning the Flat Track Canada championship in 2023. One of the top motorcycle racers at Welland County Speedway, Seguin was killed in a crash in Saturday night's final race. He was 29. The owner of a construction business, Seguin is the first fatality at the track since Bob Harpwood was killed at 20 in 1979. Wilson said one other rider suffered minor injuries in Saturday's 450 Expert final. 'He's fine,' Wilson said. 'He fell, bumped his head, but he's OK.' Wilson told The Standard there is no one to blame for the tragedy. 'I've been out here all night with police investigators, everything. There's no fault, no blame, it's simply a racing accident,' he said. 'One guy is holding his line, the other guy goes underneath. Tyler was on the inside, he got a little loose, it's as simple as that. He high-sided the bike and went into the barrier.' In 2023, Seguin, whose No. 22 was a fixture at Welland County Speedway over the years, won the Flat Track Canada championship, taking the title in the final race of the season at Humberstone. 'He was one of our top racers,' Wilson said. In a Facebook post, a user by the name of MyRanda SwayZe called Seguin's death 'such a huge loss for the entire community.' 'Watching you grow up from a little kid to a grown man, you made a lot of people proud. And you definitely made a name for yourself, everyone knew you one way or another.' Jacob Campbell wrote in his post that he watched 'from the shadows for years of what you (Seguin) became.' 'A beautiful human with a business, family and purpose.' As of Sunday, all track operations have been cancelled by the club. 'We would normally be running motocross today, but that's cancelled,' Wilson said. 'Our next race, next week, is cancelled. 'Beyond that, I have no comment.'

Looking ahead to Missouri special session, Show Me Sports Investment Act

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Missouri General Assembly's special session reconvenes Monday, and it's the House side of the rotunda's turn in Jefferson City. The state Senate passed a trio of bills last week, one providing a plan to fund up to half of stadium projects for the Chiefs or Royals or Cardinals in St. Louis. The Missouri State House will consider the Show Me Sports Investment Act. The stadium funding bill sets the framework for the Royals and the Chiefs to pay back some of the costs for new and renovated venues. Construction bonds would be paid back using tax money generated at the stadiums and would cover up to 50% of the cost to build it. The teams would have to qualify to have access to that money. The stadiums would need to be built for football or baseball, have more than 30,000 seats, and cost at least half a billion dollars. On Sunday, Rudi Keller, the deputy editor of the Missouri Independent, discussed what could happen as the special session continues this week. Kansas City superheroes assemble behind local child battling cancer 'A member of the House budget Committee who will consider the spending bill on Tuesday said there is an assumption the House will pass this, and that's correct. I also talked to the Chair of the House Budget Committee earlier today, and it turns out he's not going to be demanding anything new. So as long as there aren't serious demands that endanger the bill from the House, much as the way demands from Senators resulted in a change to the call, I'm anticipating this will go relatively smoothly this week,' Keller said on 4 The People. The stadium funding bill does not have the words 'Royals' or 'Chiefs' in it, but a big reason for the calling of this special session was to find a way to keep both teams in the state and counter the plans of Kansas lawmakers. Nearly a year ago, the Kansas legislature approved a bill to utilize STAR bonds to cover stadium construction costs. The deadline for that bill is coming up at the end of June. 'If Kansas believes that we could really be in the conversation, you could see some limited extension,' said Kansas Senate President Ty Masterson. 'The way the law is written, it could be extended for up to a year. I don't see that happening.' You can watch the full conversation with Masterson and Keller here. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
