'Tomorrow's a new day ' Texas A&M RHP Brad Rudis speaks after Game 2 loss to Missouri
When Texas A&M needed their batters to step up the most, they failed. There is enough blame to go around, and with how good they have been playing over the last month and a half, a bad series was in the cards. Unfortunately for the Aggies they have no room for error.
Coming into the series, A&M needed to win at least two games to go into the final week of regular season play with a solid chance to make the NCAA tournament. However, the weekend turned into a disaster as they dropped both games to a struggling Missouri team with the worst pitching ERA in the conference.
The Aggie pitching staff did well enough in game two, allowing A&M a chance to get back into the game, but it never materialized. Senior Day was lost amid this embarrassing loss, where several Aggies were honored, including Brad Rudis. He spoke after the game and what it meant to him, being that it's probably the last time he will throw a collegiate pitch at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
"I mean, really special day for me and my family, I probably the last outing I'll have here as an Aggie, so it was a really special day, obviously, the game wasn't what we wanted, but tomorrow's a new day."
The series loss is a major blow to their postseason aspirations, but they do not have any time to dwell on the recent past and have to get on track for the remaining four games. A short memory is paramount moving forward in the last week of the regular season.
"We have a lot of experienced guys, I think we know what it takes to win, we know what it takes to get to Ohama and obviously that's the end goal but right now we just have to take it one game at a time."
Below is the full press conference after Game 2 of the Missouri series.

New York Giants' Jermaine Eluemunor takes notice of grass turf at MetLife Stadium

New York Giants' Jermaine Eluemunor takes notice of grass turf at MetLife Stadium What would MetLife Stadium look like if the playing surface consisted of natural grass instead of the artificial turf they've had since 2010? Thanks to the rules of FIFA, which will play nine games of their Club World Cup 2025 at MetLife, we've gotten a preview. FIFA prefers, but does not require, all matches to be played on natural grass. Artificial turf can be used in certain cases but it must meet strict guidelines. MetLife Stadium currently utilizes a synthetic turf called FieldTurf Core HD, which was installed before the 2023 NFL season. The previous surface, UBU Speed S5-M, was troublesome to many players who claimed the surface was responsible for a spate of leg injuries. MetLife is a heavily used venue, where both local area NFL teams, the New York Giants and New York Jets, play their home games. The venue also hosts numerous other events, including concerts. Natural grass would likely not survive, hence the choice to utilize the artificial surface. Still, that did not prevent the NFLPA and Giants offensive lineman Jermaine Eluemunor from taking notice. Players across the league regularly gripe about the playing surface at MetLife Stadium, expressing their preference for natural grass but stability concerns remain. "I want to get to the point where the experts can tell us that late in the season we can have a safe, playable grass field, and when we get to that point, then maybe we'll make the switch," Giants co-owner John Mara said last year. "With the amount of events in our building, particularly during the football season, having two teams there, and how many times last year we had back-to-back games where it rained during the first game, I can't imagine what a grass field would've looked like on a second day." The number of events and four seasons in the Northeast continue to pose a problem.

Bill Belichick speaks to media on UNC's improvements during spring practices

Bill Belichick speaks to media on UNC's improvements during spring practices Bill Belichick likes his players' improvement over UNC's spring football practices. The highly-anticipated, 2025 college football season will begin in just two months, with the North Carolina Tar Heels expected to continue attracting plenty of attention. Hoping to escape a decade-long slump of mediocrity, UNC hired 8-time Super Bowl Champion Bill Belichick to be its next head football coach. Despite his endless success at the professional level, Belichick is a first-time college coach, so the questioning is understandable. Belichick quickly proved he can thrive outside of the NFL, landing North Carolina numerous commitments in the transfer portal. If you have trouble identifying any of the Tar Heels' 2025 starters, that's because they likely played college ball elsewhere last season. With essentially a brand-new team, it's natural to expect growing pains. According to Belichick, though, his players showed improvement across the board during spring practices. "(There was) better communication, better fundamentals, better understanding of what we're trying to do," Belichick said Tuesday at the Kenan Football Center. "Certainly the conditioning was much better. We practiced at a very high level, similar to what we have done in the past with Moses Cabrera, strength coach, and our offensive and defensive systems and so forth. The players were able to respond to that and maintain not only good health, but a high quality performance. So we didn't run out of gas. We were able to sustain the workload of those practices from our offseason training that started back in January." "We're not going to stop," Belichick continued. "We don't think we're there yet. We're definitely not there. We know we've got a long way to go, but I think these guys have a really good future in front of them, individually and collectively, and it's exciting to see the progress they've made." The first college football game of 2025 will be a 12 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, August 23 between Kansas State and Iowa State, when both programs play in Dublin, Ireland's Aer Lingus Classic. The Tar Heels will play their first game Monday, September 1 at 8 p.m. against TCU, making Belichick's first college game a primetime matchup under the Kenan Stadium lights.
