Mock Trade Sends Suns' Kevin Durant to Surprise West Team For Top-10 Pick, Veteran Guard
Mock Trade Sends Suns' Kevin Durant to Surprise West Team For Top-10 Pick, Veteran Guard originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Phoenix Suns have a busy offseason ahead of them as they try to turn their franchise around after another disappointing season. Advertisement Phoenix finished the season 11th in the Western Conference with an abysmal 36-46 record, missing the playoffs for the first time since the 2019-20 campaign. Of course, the Suns were expected to be a top team in the West thanks to their star trio of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal but now the trio's future in Phoenix is in doubt. Because of this, Durant now enters the offseason as one of the main trade targets for other contending team and he has already been linked to many, including the Houston Rockets, Miami Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves. Advertisement While those are just some of the teams Durant has been linked to, Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman recently released a mock trade that would send him to a surprise West team in the New Orleans Pelicans. In the trade, Wasserman has Phoenix sending Durant to New Orleans in exchange for the seventh overall pick in the 2025 draft, C.J. McCollum, Kelly Olynyk, Jordan Hawkins, a top-three protected 2029 first-round pick and 2027 first-round pick swap via the Milwaukee Bucks. Suns Get Devin Booker Update Amid Head Coaching News
Suns Get Devin Booker Update Amid Head Coaching News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Phoenix Suns are expected to have one of the busier offseasons in the NBA, although not for the best of reasons. After missing the playoffs despite boasting three maximum-contract players, the Suns failed to make the playoffs and will have many roster (and staffing) choices to make. Advertisement The Suns are expected to trade away Kevin Durant, try to deal Bradley Beal, and must find a new head coach. Franchise cornerstone Devin Booker has also been included in mock trades and rumors, although so far the organization has not placed him on the trade block. A recent report suggests that Booker is the centerpiece of the team both now and moving forward. Phoenix Suns head coach Mike Budenholzer talks to star shooting guard Devin Booker© Joe Camporeale-Imagn Images Suns Will Listen to Booker's Input The Suns will likely trade Durant, but they must find a head coach. They have, apparently, narrowed it down to five candidates, none of whom have been an NBA head coach before. In an effort to build a winner around Booker, the Suns will give him a say in the hire. Advertisement "Devin Booker has had a level of involvement with candidates in this stage of interviews, this also shows Mat Ishbia's loudly stated determination to keep Booker in place as the team's cornerstone," reported insider Marc Stein. Booker has played for seven head coaches already in his career and has experienced limited team success. Booker being included in the coaching search shows, very clearly, that the Suns see him as a valuable piece moving forward. In the event that they receive multiple offers for Durant this summer, perhaps Booker will be involved in deciding which package to accept, allowing him to build a roster and coaching staff around him. Timberwolves reportedly were very serious about trading for Kevin Durant at deadline
Around the trade deadline, Kevin Durant was surprised when what had been Phoenix's efforts to trade Bradley Beal suddenly pivoted to KD in trade talks with the Golden State Warriors and others. One of those others was Minnesota — pairing Anthony Edwards and his idol — and it was serious about landing Durant, reports ESPN's Brian Windhorst on the Hoop Collective Podcast (hat tip Real GM). Advertisement "It became clear to me in talking to the parties involved just how serious the Wolves were about trying to trade for Kevin Durant at the trade deadline." However, pulling the trade together at the time was impossible because both teams were over the second apron of the luxury tax, which imposed various restrictions on any deal (neither team could aggregate players, nor could either team take back $1 more than it sent out). This summer, the Timberwolves have three core players who can — and will — be free agents that they must make decisions on: Julius Randle and Naz Reid have player options they are expected not to pick up, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker is a free agent. However, with all those guys off the books July 1, there would be cap space to revisit a Durant trade. The question is, after a playoff run to the second round where Minnesota seemed to find an identity and path forward, do they want to shake things up with another blockbuster trade? Advertisement "I'm not arguing that Durant is going to end up in Minnesota... If you look at Tim Connelly, he made the big [Rudy] Gobert trade. He made the big trade of KAT for Julius Randle and DiVincenzo." Durant is going to get traded this summer, the only real question is where (talk on that front has been quiet around the league so far, but the wide-ranging expectation is that he will get moved, something mutual between him and Phoenix). Minnesota is not entirely off the table in those talks. It's something to watch, although the more likely path is the Timberwolves bringing back Randle and Alexander-Walker — Reid may be too expensive, and other teams can offer a larger role, although Minnesota wants to keep him — and tweaking the roster from there.

KD(左)Edwards(右)。

Desperate Trade Proposal Sees Milwaukee Bucks Buying More Time To Keep Giannis Antetokounmpo
Trade rumors involving Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo have emerged as the primary topic of conversation heading into the offseason. While Antetokounmpo has shown an inclination to consider a move away from Milwaukee, the Bucks may not necessarily be on the same page. After yet another failed postseason campaign, the Greek forward seems to have grown weary of the state of the Bucks franchise. The team aimed to make another title charge after the acquisition of Damian Lillard. Unfortunately, Milwaukee hasn't made any efforts to strengthen the roster or provide adequate support to their superstar since. Advertisement Antetokounmpo has made his intentions to win very clear. At 30 years old, the forward is in his prime and on his day, the most dominant force in the NBA. In light of this, he has detailed his preferences about potential trade destinations. The pressure on the Bucks to retain their star is real and present. However, a recent trade proposal by Bleacher Report's Dan Favale could help Milwaukee hold onto their star for just a little bit longer. Proposed Trade Details: Milwaukee Bucks Receive: Bradley Beal Phoenix Suns Receive: Damian Lillard, 2031 first-round pick (MIL), 2031 second-round pick (MIL) Utah Jazz Receive: Chris Livingston, 2026 first-round pick (PHX) Facilitating a three-team deal would take a lot of convincing on Milwaukee's part, especially considering that the Jazz stand to gain very little. While this deal does help offload Lillard's contract, does it actually help the Bucks? The Milwaukee Bucks Can Keep Giannis Antetokounmpo Interested For Longer A move to swap Damian Lillard for Bradley Beal has virtually no impact on the roster. In many ways, Lillard may be a more impactful player than Beal on any given day, considering his sheer offensive output. Advertisement Unfortunately, the Bucks guard suffered a horrible ACL injury in the postseason that will effectively see him sidelined for a large portion of the upcoming season as well. With this in mind, if Milwaukee were to retain him, they would effectively be indicating to Antetokounmpo that they have no intentions of competing for a title. This in itself would be rather counterproductive. In this light, acquiring Beal signals to the team as well as their star that they have intentions of remaining a competitive side. The proposed draft compensation, however, makes it abundantly clear that the Bucks would need to incentivize Phoenix to take on Lillard's contract. Acquiring Beal could be of some value to Milwaukee. While the Suns guard hasn't been the most interesting or productive player during his time in Phoenix, it is important to note that this may have been due to the system he played in. Beal, since his days with the Washington Wizards, was at his best when he was left alone to his devices as a flat-out scorer. However, on the Suns, he was asked to play the role of a Jrue Holiday-type player, something that doesn't fit his template in the slightest. Advertisement Regardless, his averages of 17.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game on 49.7% shooting will still instill some hope for the team, especially in light of the players they may lose in free agency. It is important to note that, in this context, the East is going to get weaker next season. With several injuries taking their toll on key players, while others move out West, the East has gradually depleted in stature and become easier for top teams to compete in. Now, with the Boston Celtics seeing a star player in Jayson Tatum sidelined for the better part of the upcoming season, the Bucks have a clear case to present to Antetokounmpo to convince him to stay until they can build a competitive unit around him. However, this trade may not happen for several reasons. And even if it does, it really may not be enough to convince the Bucks star to stay. Advertisement A primary factor preventing this deal from going through is Bradley Beal's no-trade clause. The guard's contractual stipulations allow him to veto any trade decision involving him. This makes him one of the most difficult players to deal with in any trade talks. Additionally, considering his intention to stay with the Suns, it seems highly unlikely that the Bucks would be able to ensure this deal goes through. Although Antetokounmpo has made his preference to stay in the East known, several rumors have linked him with the Golden State Warriors. His recent appearance at Stephen Curry's party and other cameos in San Francisco have only sparked these conversations further. However, the Bucks have plans to discuss things with their star before making any decisions. With a long offseason to go, Antetokounmpo's future in Milwaukee remains undecided.
