Rajnath Singh to lay foundation stone for Rs 1,800 cr rail coach unit in MP

Bhopal, Aug 10 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that the state is set to receive a major boost under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision—a new rail coach manufacturing unit. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will perform the bhoomipujan ceremony today at Dussehra Maidan in Obeidullaganj to mark the start of the project. The event will also be attended by Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Defence Production Secretary Sanjeev Kumar, Railway Board Chairman Satish Kumar, and Bharat Earth Movers Ltd (BEML) Chairman Shantanu Rai. A short film on the BEML project, a 3D walk-through of the proposed plant, and models of new facilities will be showcased during the programme. The plant under the name Brahma Project (BEML Rail Hub for Manufacturing) will be built on over 60 hectares in Umariya village of Raisen district, near the Bhopal border, at a cost of Rs 1,800 crore. The facility is expected to benefit Bhopal, Raisen, Sehore, and Vidisha districts, creating employment for over 5,000 people, both directly and indirectly. Technical students from the region will particularly gain from new job opportunities. Calling it a significant boost to the Make in India initiative, Yadav said the unit will manufacture coaches for Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat, and metro trains, ushering in a 'new era' for India's rail network. The project will also stimulate industrial growth in nearby areas, including Mandideep. The decision to establish the factory was taken a few months ago during Yadav's visit to the BEML institute in Bengaluru. The Chief Minister emphasized that the unit will fully align with Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat goals by utilizing mostly indigenous technology and materials, reducing foreign dependence and positioning India as a leader in defence manufacturing. 'Under the leadership of PM Modi, a new chapter of industrial development will be scripted,' Yadav said, adding that investors from Madhya Pradesh and across the country are being invited to participate. The project prioritizes environmental sustainability, featuring zero liquid waste, use of solar and renewable energy, rainwater harvesting, and green landscaping. Built as a 'green factory' using recycled and sustainable materials, the plant will initially produce 125–200 coaches per year, with capacity planned to scale up to 1,100 coaches annually within five years. Yadav said that the project will not only generate thousands of jobs but also enhance the state's technological capabilities, making Madhya Pradesh a competitive player in the global high-speed rail and metro market. Rail hub in Obedullaganj will go green, create 5k jobs: CM

Bhopal: CM Mohan Yadav on Saturday announced that the upcoming "Brahma" rail coach manufacturing unit at Obedullaganj will operate entirely under the " Make in India " and " Atmanirbhar Bharat " framework, with most technology and materials sourced domestically to cut foreign dependence. He said BEML Limited will build "Brahma Project (BEML Rail Hub For Manufacturing)" on more than 60 hectares in Raisen's Umariya village near Bhopal district border at a cost of Rs 1,800 crore. The CM said the project would benefit Bhopal, Raisen, Sehore, Vidisha and the Mandideep industrial area, creating direct and indirect employment for over 5,000 people, including engineering graduates from local technical institutes. The decision to set up the unit followed his visit to BEML's Bengaluru facility earlier this year. Besides, he said this project would be an important step to make the state a national leader in the field of defence manufacturing. "Special attention will be given to environmental standards in the construction of this plant. Zero liquid waste system, use of solar and renewable energy, rainwater harvesting, and green landscaping will be adopted here," he said. The factory will be developed as per green factory standards using recycled and sustainable materials in construction. The initial production capacity of the project will be 125 to 200 coaches per year, which will be increased to 1,100 coaches per year in five years. The technological capabilities developed here will make the state competitive in the global market for high-speed rail and metro construction. The coaches of Vande Bharat-Amrit Bharat and Metro trains manufactured here will mark a new era for the entire Indian Rail system, the CM said. Yadav said "bhoomi pujan" of the project will be performed by defence minister Rajnath Singh on Aug 10 at Dussehra Maidan in Obedullaganj. The metropolitan city of Bhopal, developing as a metropolitan area, will gain greatly from this project.
