Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune has been honored with the 'Best Brain Stem Death (BSD) Team in Maharashtra' and 'Best Organ Transplant Coordinator Award' for its remarkable contribution in the field of organ donation and transplantation. Hon'ble Mr. Prakashrao Abitkar, Minister of Public Health & Family Welfare, Government of Maharashtra presented the award to Dr. Yashraj Patil, Trustee & Treasurer, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pimpri, Pune. Also present on the occasion were Dr. H.H. Chavan, Medical Superintendent and Dr. Vrushali Patil, Director, Organ Donation & Transplant Department of Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune. In the same event, Vasanti Musalde and Alishiba Wakde from the hospital were felicitated with the Best Organ Transplant Coordinator Award for their outstanding efforts. The ceremony was graced by Hon'ble Mr. Prakashrao Abitkar, Minister of Public Health & Family Welfare, Government of Maharashtra; Dr. Akash Shukla, Director, ROTTO-SOTTO; Dr. Sangeeta Rawat, Dean, Seth G.S. Medical College & KEM Hospital; and Deans of various medical colleges. 'To accelerate the organ donation movement, every individual must come forward. We must highlight the possibility of a healthy and fulfilling life post-transplant. Creating public awareness about organ donation is crucial,' said Mr. Prakashrao Abitkar. He added, 'It's encouraging to see many social organizations and hospitals bringing about a positive shift in public mindset through awareness campaigns.' He congratulated all the award recipients. Dr. P. D. Patil, Chancellor, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pimpri, Pune, expressed, 'This award further strengthens our organ donation and transplant mission. We will continue this initiative with dedication. The recognition by ROTTO-SOTTO and the government has taken our efforts to greater heights.' He congratulated the entire team for this achievement. Dr. Bhagyashree Patil, Pro-Chancellor, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pimpri, Pune, stated, 'Our hospital's work in organ donation and transplantation is proving to be life-saving for many patients. The brave decisions taken by donor families are giving strength to this mission. With world-class facilities, experienced doctors and dedicated counsellors, our campaign is gaining momentum. This award is a testament to our consistent efforts.' Dr. Yashraj Patil, Trustee and Treasurer, Dr. D. Y. PGI wins Best ROTTO Award for consecutive second year

Reinforcing its national leadership in the field of cadaver organ donation, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, has once again emerged as a trailblazer, clinching the prestigious Best ROTTO Award for the second consecutive year, marking its third national win since the inception of the award in 2019. The accolade was presented at the 15th Indian Organ Donation Day celebrations held at Dr BR Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi under the aegis of the National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) on Saturday. Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda was the chief guest at the event. The award was received by a delegation led by PGI Director Prof Vivek Lal. The Institute was also honoured with the award for the Best Brain Stem Death (BSD) Declaration Team, recognising the institute's unwavering adherence to transparent, timely and ethically sound donor identification and management protocols.

PGI clinches Best ROTTO Award for the third time

The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) has once again been recognised for its excellence in organ donation, securing the Best Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (ROTTO) Award for the second consecutive year. This marks the institute's third national win for the prestigious accolade since its inception in 2019. (HT Photo) The award ceremony took place at the 15th Indian Organ Donation Day celebrations in New Delhi, an event organised by the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO). Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda presented the award to a PGIMER delegation, which included director Vivek Lal, deputy director Pankaj Rai, and medical superintendent Vipin Koushal, among other key members. In addition to the ROTTO award, PGIMER was also celebrated for having the best Brain Stem Death (BSD) declaration team. This award recognizes the institute's commitment to transparent, timely, and ethical donor management protocols. The team, led by profesor Vivek Lal, included several prominent doctors who received the honor for their work. Since being designated as the ROTTO for northern India in 2015, PGIMER has been responsible for promoting organ donation across a vast region that includes Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and the Union Territories of Jammu, Kashmir, and Chandigarh.
