'EA SPORTS F1 25' is Out Now
EA SPORTS F1 25has officially hit the track. The latest entry in theFormula 1video game franchise was released today onPlayStation 5,XboxSeries X|S andPC, promising to deliver the most realistic racing simulation of the series so far. Fan-favorite story mode, Braking Point, returns for its third chapter and this time includes a surprise crossover with Apple Original Films'F1 THE MOVIEthat sees players jump into the cockpit of fictional team APXGP in a playable preview chapter. The brand say that further story content is set to roll out over time, beginning on June 30. Additionally, this year's Braking Point introduces multi-character perspectives and spans a full two seasons, allowing players to experience the highs and lows – as well as the politics of – contending for the title from more than one seat. EA has also introduced a reworked My Team mode, with My Team 2.0 letting players take on the role of team owner to build an F1 operation from scratch – everything from the team's engineering to its personnel can be controlled, and players can easily switch between modes to manage or drive at their leisure. Adding to the new title's realism is the fact game developer, Codemasters, digitally scanned six real life tracks 'using LIDAR' and 'captured during live race weekends', including Silverstone, Bahrain, Miami, Melbourne, Suzuka, and Imola. It makes racing these tracks in-game the closest thing to actually doing so in real life, offering fans a unique perspective that's not found in any other games. In celebration of its launch, EA paired up the seven-time Formula One World Drivers' Championship winnerLewis Hamiltonwith professional footballerKylian Mbappéfor what it calls a 'a sprint showdown ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix' this weekend. Check out the video above. EA SPORTS F1 25is out now worldwide.

Perfectly recreated FI cars gliding around perfect recreations of F1 tracks...AND Brad Pitt? Now that's what I call a formula for success!
F1 25 (PlayStation, Xbox, PC, £69.99) Rating: It's not EA FC, the game formally known as Fifa. It's not the NBA series either. It's not even my beloved Rocket League. No, the best sports-simulation game is always Codemasters' latest F1 release, and that's been the case for some years now. Why? It's mostly in that word simulation. Here are perfect recreations of Formula 1 cars gliding around perfect recreations of Formula 1 tracks. If you're a disaster on four wheels, like me, you can make everything - every detail of the vehicle's handling and performance - as forgiving as you want. If you're rather more talented, you can ramp up the difficulty until the experience is practically real. There's a reason why actual F1 drivers, such as Lando Norris and Max Verstappen, play these games in their downtime. Now they - and we - have another one to play: F1 25. It is an improvement on F1 24, which basically makes it great by default. I mean, you even get to play as Brad Pitt! There's an enjoyable challenge based on the upcoming F1 movie, with more to come after that movie's release. And, of course, after a year's gap, there's the very welcome return of Braking Point, the narrative mode that builds a soap opera around the racing. The continuing story of Aidan Jackson, Callie Mayer and all our other favourite fictional drivers is surprisingly affecting. The only disappointment? As tends to happen with this sort of annual release, it can all feel more repetitive than revolutionary. It doesn't help that many of this year's improvements are micro-adjustments to car physics and track geography that only the pros will notice. Still, iterating on the best sports-simulation game there is still leaves you with the best sports-simulation game there is. Add in Brad Pitt too, and F1 25 takes the checkered flag. The Siege And The Sandfox (PC, £11.99) Rating: Let's take some familiar ingredients from the cupboard. First, the explorative, bouncy platforming from series such as Castlevania and Prince Of Persia. Then the stealthy mechanics of, say, the Thief and Commandos games. Add a dash of retro pixellated graphics. Now stir it all together, The result isn't something entirely novel, but it is quite different and kind of tasty. It's The Siege And The Sandfox, a platformer that has you sneaking through the shadows and avoiding any baddies you come across. But who are you? The Sandfox himself, a hooded assassin who has been framed for the murder of his patron, the king, in an Arabian Nights-esque realm and cast down into the depths of the capital. And who are the baddies? The city's unforgiving guards and the wicked agents of an invading power, most of whom you have to bypass on your way back up to surface — where you plan to dispense some justice. It's a shame that the game shows off almost everything it has to offer - from all the possibilities of its mechanics to its best little quests - in its opening couple of hours The setup and the setting of The Siege And The Sandfox are just two of the many things to admire about it. Its graphics are simple but gorgeous; a tremendous mix of light and dark. And speaking of light and dark, you can extinguish any lamps you come across, so the Sandfox is less visible to his would-be captors - though they can still hear his footsteps if you're not careful. So it's a shame that the game shows off almost everything it has to offer - from all the possibilities of its mechanics to its best little quests - in its opening couple of hours, leaving half a dozen hours that feel rather empty. In fact, it's much like its protagonist in that regard: now you see it... now you don't.

F1 25 review: a racing game that's all about the drama
Gaming Narrative mode Braking Point returns along with Hollywood stars Skip 5 photos in the image carousel and continue reading We're about a month away from Brad Pitt and his pals attempting to turn a sport that involves understanding the concept of tyre degradation into a gripping Hollywood blockbuster. But if you've been playing the official F1 games over the past five years, you'll know that mixing F1 with melodrama works brilliantly. Yes, Braking Point, the narrative story mode that began in F1 2021 , returns for a third time in F1 25 . We'll confess to having a massive soft spot for Braking Point. Alright, some of the plotlines are cheesier than a three day fondue festival, but there's a lot to be said for having a more human off-track narrative pushing you along between race events. This storyline is a continuation of the arc that began in F1 2021 with even messier family drama this time around and, while you might be entirely lost if you've not played the previous two instalments, for long-time fans it's as involving and entertaining as it always was. Advertisement - Page continues below Away from the soap opera, the other significant update in F1 25 is My Team mode. Rather than the throwback concept of an owner-driver, this new version of My Team has you stepping into the branded trainers of the team principal of an 11th Formula One team, with all the additional responsibility that entails. While it's naturally not quite as in depth as the now cancelled F1 Manager series, it's most of the way there and streamlined, intuitive menus ensure it's never completely overwhelming. Plus, unlike F1 Manager, you have the added bonus that when the race weekend arrives you aren't sitting on the sidelines fiddling with fuel strategies. In F1 25 you get to assume control of one of your two contracted drivers and clamber behind the wheel yourself. Oh and one of those drivers might be Brad Pitt. You might like Yes, that upcoming F1 movie is also well represented in the official game. In My Team you can choose to play as the movie's own fictional 11th team, APX Grand Prix, with drivers Sonny Hayes (Pitt) and Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris) casually dropped into the driver mix. There's also a separate scenario mode which blends clips from the movie with in-game challenges in much the same way as Braking Point does. There's only one small prologue challenge available so far, so as to avoid ruining the plot, with the rest only arriving as downloadable content once the movie is out in cinemas. We'd make a gag about spoilers, but on an F1 car it's actually a rear wing. Advertisement - Page continues below After a lacklustre seasonal update last year, whose main development focus appeared to be making the handling model undriveable, F1 25 is a return to form. Braking Point will keep you entertained for a good few hours, but it's the expansive new My Team mode that offers proper novelty and longevity to those who have loyally dropped their cash on the official game every year. Newcomers and lapsed fans, meanwhile, will return to menus upon menus of modes and options in one of the most refined and feature rich racers available. And if your fantasy is just 'pretending you're handsome Hollywood star Brad Pitt', somehow it's now got that covered too... Thank you for subscribing to our newsletter.
