Astonishing number of Chicago cops it took to subdue pint-sized anti-ICE protester
Several police officers struggled to subdue a pint-sized protestor while swarming him on the streets of Chicago following anti-Trump demonstrations over the weekend.
In footage shared on social media, at least five officers could be seen surrounding the unidentified man near the London House hotel on Saturday night.
The man appeared to swing at the gaggle of officers and resist arrest before they managed to place him in handcuffs.
Nine officers are then seen marching him toward an awaiting police car.
WBBM reporter Brandon Ison said in a post to X that he had witnessed the man damaging property at the nearby Land & Lake restaurant.
The Daily Mail contacted the Chicag o Police Department for further details.
The incident occurred over the weekend as thousands gathered in the Windy City to protest President Donald Trump as part of nationwide 'No Kings' demonstrations.
The site where the man was arrested sits directly across from the Trump International Hotel, where protestors had marched passed on Saturday.
Huge crowds also gathered in New York, Austin and Los Angeles as Trump celebrated the Army's 250th anniversary with a military parade in Washington, DC.
According to the Chicago Sun Times, several rallies were held across the downtown area and into the suburbs.
The outlet reported that one person was arrested at the protests, though it was not immediately clear if the person is the man shown in the clip.
Demonstrators had gathered over the weekend to speak out against ICE, immigration policies, and what they viewed as authoritarian displays of power.
Organizers said that millions marched at hundreds of events across the country.
Speaking at Daley Plaza in Chicago, Illinois Senator Dick Durbin told the thousands that had gathered: 'When I look out at this gathering, I don't see Daley Plaza.
'I don't even see this city. I see America. I see a country that decided in 1776: No kings in America.'
Trump has made deporting undocumented immigrants a key priority for his second term, after successfully campaigning against an alleged 'invasion' by criminals.
Raids earlier this month by ICE in Los Angeles sparked days of protests and unrest, prompting the president to deploy 4,000 members of the National Guard and 700 Marines.
California has sued to regain control of the National Guardsmen from Trump, arguing he overstepped his authority. That suit is working its way through federal court.
On Sunday Trump also directed authorities to ramp up deportation efforts in Democratic-led cities.
In a post to social media, he said that 'every day, the Brave Men and Women of ICE are subjected to violence, harassment, and even threats from Radical Democrat Politicians.'
He insisted that 'nothing will stop us from executing our mission. ICE Officers are herewith ordered to do all in their power to achieve the very important goal of delivering the single largest Mass Deportation Program in History.'
Trump added that 'Radical Left Democrats are sick of mind, hate our Country, and actually want to destroy our Inner Cities - And they are doing a good job of it!
'To ICE, FBI, DEA, ATF, the Patriots at Pentagon and the State Department, you have my unwavering support. Now go, GET THE JOB DONE!' he wrote.
