Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal reveal how 'The Accountant 2' action scenes are different from 'Batman' and 'The Punisher'
Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal are set to team up in the upcoming action flick 'The Accountant 2'. The duo, who play the leading men in the upcoming film, got candid about stepping up with guns blazing in this Gavin O'Connor directorial. No stranger to action roles, the two stars have earned quite the fan following for their roles in previous blockbuster franchises like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and The Punisher. At 'The Accountant 2' global press conference, attended by ETimes, the duo discussed how the sequel focuses on emotionally grounded action rather than mere action spectacle. For Ben, who portrayed Batman in the DC Extended Universe, the physical demands of The Accountant 2 felt distinct due to the personal stakes woven into the narrative. The actor, who returned to the sequel explained, "To me, what makes the action in The Accountant 2 so unique is that it's always rooted in character motivation. It's not about creating a shot that looks cool or building a sequence for visual flair. Everything is driven by what these characters want and why they are fighting in the first place. " The sequel continues the story of Christian Wolff (Affleck), a mathematical savant with lethal combat skills. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Accounting Automation Software Might Help You To Earn More Accounting Automation Software | Search ads Undo Unlike the large-scale action of Batman v Superman, the violence in The Accountant 2 remains gritty and intimate. Affleck noted, "It's always driven by what each character wants and why they're doing this. There's a grounded reason for every action, and Gavin's gift is to take that and make it visually compelling. " Director Gavin O'Connor echoed his sentiments, saying, "We didn't want the action to feel 'stunty' or separate from the characters." "By the third act, it was all about tracking how these brothers—Christian and Brax—are working together, how they're united. The choreography isn't just about the physicality; it's about the emotional connection between them." According to O'Connor, every sequence—no matter how explosive—serves a narrative purpose. "Action is like a dance; it's done in beats," the director explained. "But it only matters if it evokes emotion. Otherwise, it's just disposable violence." Jon Bernthal, who features as Brax, Christian's estranged but loyal brother, described how his character's journey is deeply intertwined with the film's themes of family and redemption. "You can't lie in a fight—you just can't," he remarked and added, "What you want is right there, so if you're going for it, you've got to know why. Gavin has a hunger to really dive into what makes these characters tick. For Brax, the emotional baggage from their childhood and their father's influence is always there. The violence isn't just for show—it's a way to express love and loyalty." Bernthal reflected on the mysterious nature of his character in the first film and how the sequel peels back layers of his relationship with his brother. "The first film left a lot unsaid about Brax. But here, it's about getting each other's backs, and being there for each other. In a strange way, the action scenes show how much these brothers love and need each other," he added. 4 Upcoming Apple Products Worth Your Money in 2025
When Apple products have minimal upgrades, waiting for the next release, buying an open box or refurbished model in a few months can be the smarter move. Find Out: Consider This: A slew of Apple products, including Macs, iPods and Apple Watches are going on sale this spring on Amazon, Walmart and Best Buy, according to CNN. But you might wonder what new releases Apple has in store for 2025, and which models are worth the money. GOBankingRates tapped the experts to find out which upcoming and new Apple products are actually worth the money, breaking down value, specs and utility to help you and your family invest wisely in tech that fits your lifestyle and budget. Price: $599 Jonathan Brax, owner of Techable and recommended the new Mac Mini M4, released in November 2024. Since Apple hasn't hinted about an M5 chip, we thought it was worth mentioning. 'This new Mac Mini is getting a ton of buzz [this year] because it packs impressive power into an affordable, compact setup,' he noted. Due to its miniature size, it's an excellent product for everyday users, students, or even professionals wanting to maximize desk space without sacrificing performance, said Brax. 'Apple's new M4 chip comes with 6GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD; and the best part is it's only $599 brand new — but I've seen Amazon deals recently knocking another $100 off,' he continued Learn More: Price: $1,599 Another Mac product that will be big this year is the M3 MacBook Pro 14-inch, according to Brax. 'The M3 MacBook Pro is one of the smartest buys you can make this year,' he said. 'It balances power and portability, making it ideal for students, creative professionals and anyone needing solid performance on the go.' Brax noted that 'something Apple fans always appreciate' are the specs that come with it, which include 8-core CPU, 10-core GPU, 8GB unified memory, and a 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display and plenty of ports. The M3 MacBook Pro is priced at $1,599, but you can find deals for $1,299. Brax recommended buying it refurbished from trusted sellers to maximize value. Price: $1,099 'The upcoming MacBook Air with the M3 chip will likely be one of the best Apple products to buy this year due to its better performance, improved battery life and possibly a new design,' said Peter Barnett, VP of Product Strategy at Action1. What makes this MacBook a great deal is that it combines the perfect balance of power and portability, making it an all-around value for students, remote workers and even those using it casually. 'The base model will likely start at around $1,099, making it a smart investment for Apple enthusiasts at a low price point,' Barnett said. If you don't need the latest features, Barnett recommended waiting for discounts or buying last year's M2 model at a lower price. Price: $399 Apple Watch fans are in for a treat, as Apple's 10th anniversary Apple Watch Series 10 is expected to introduce significant upgrades, according to Barnett. 'The [Series 10] will likely feature a thinner design, better battery life and new health tracking features, making it the best series yet if you rely on your Apple Watch for fitness, sleep tracking or daily convenience,' he said. 'It's worth buying new if you want the latest sensors and performance improvements, but if you're on a budget, last year's Series 9 will still be a great buy at a discount,' Barnett noted. Meet Brax, the Richmond rapper immortalized in a Northside mural
Her name was Braxton Baker. She was a rapper, a poet and a fashion icon — and she was from Richmond. Why it matters: One of the biggest murals in Brookland Park is dedicated to her, and we thought you should know about her if you don't already. State of play: Baker, known as "Brax," died nearly five years ago at the age of 21 due to cardiac arrhythmia. Her family unveiled this mural from artist J. Ford in June 2021 on the same wall as Da Spot recording studio, where Brax "spent a sizable chunk of her childhood," per the Richmond Times-Dispatch. The studio has had artists like Kendrick Lamar, Ashanti and Rick Ross record there. Zoom in: Brax was helping teach dance classes by age 7 and went on to be a dance captain at Henrico High School, where she graduated in 2016. Her debut mixtape "VERSE(atility)" in 2017 cemented her rise in the music industry, and when she died, outlets like Essence, Billboard, Variety and ENews posted tributes. Her mother Letricia Loftin also said in an Instagram post that Brax was working on two albums and three novels at the time of her death. Even now, people keep commenting under Brax's Instagram posts, writing "We will never forget about u" and "you are so missed."
