Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal reveal how 'The Accountant 2' action scenes are different from 'Batman' and 'The Punisher'
Ben Affleck
and
Jon Bernthal
are set to team up in the upcoming action flick 'The Accountant 2'. The duo, who play the leading men in the upcoming film, got candid about stepping up with guns blazing in this Gavin O'Connor directorial.
No stranger to action roles, the two stars have earned quite the fan following for their roles in previous blockbuster franchises like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and The Punisher. At 'The Accountant 2' global press conference, attended by ETimes, the duo discussed how the sequel focuses on emotionally grounded action rather than mere action spectacle.
For Ben, who portrayed Batman in the DC Extended Universe, the physical demands of The Accountant 2 felt distinct due to the personal stakes woven into the narrative.
The actor, who returned to the sequel explained, "To me, what makes the action in The Accountant 2 so unique is that it's always rooted in character motivation. It's not about creating a shot that looks cool or building a sequence for visual flair. Everything is driven by what these characters want and why they are fighting in the first place.
"
The sequel continues the story of Christian Wolff (Affleck), a mathematical savant with lethal combat skills.

Unlike the large-scale action of Batman v Superman, the violence in The Accountant 2 remains gritty and intimate. Affleck noted, "It's always driven by what each character wants and why they're doing this. There's a grounded reason for every action, and Gavin's gift is to take that and make it visually compelling.
"
Director Gavin O'Connor echoed his sentiments, saying, "We didn't want the action to feel 'stunty' or separate from the characters."
"By the third act, it was all about tracking how these brothers—Christian and Brax—are working together, how they're united. The choreography isn't just about the physicality; it's about the emotional connection between them."
According to O'Connor, every sequence—no matter how explosive—serves a narrative purpose. "Action is like a dance; it's done in beats," the director explained. "But it only matters if it evokes emotion.
Otherwise, it's just disposable violence."
Jon Bernthal, who features as Brax, Christian's estranged but loyal brother, described how his character's journey is deeply intertwined with the film's themes of family and redemption. "You can't lie in a fight—you just can't," he remarked and added, "What you want is right there, so if you're going for it, you've got to know why. Gavin has a hunger to really dive into what makes these characters tick.
For Brax, the emotional baggage from their childhood and their father's influence is always there.
The violence isn't just for show—it's a way to express love and loyalty."
Bernthal reflected on the mysterious nature of his character in the first film and how the sequel peels back layers of his relationship with his brother. "The first film left a lot unsaid about Brax. But here, it's about getting each other's backs, and being there for each other. In a strange way, the action scenes show how much these brothers love and need each other," he added.
The Accountant 2 is set for its release on Prime Video India, on Thursday, June 5.

'@iamsunnydeol has a tareekh for you 🔥 Note kar lo, JAAT aa raha hai 😎🔥 Watch Jaat, out 5 June, in Hindi and Telugu, on Netflix,' the makers captioned the video. About Jaat Helmed by , Jaat also stars , Viineet Kumar Singh, , and in significant roles. Sunny Deol Gets Real About 'Jaat', Pressure Post-Gadar 2 & Why He STILL Hates Dancing | EXCLUSIVE The film is backed by the well-known production house behind the Pushpa series, marking their first Hindi-language production. The makers have already confirmed that a sequel is on the way. The movie reportedly crossed around Rs 100 crore worldwide. ETimes reviewed the movie: 'Visually, the film holds its own. Thaman S's background score heightens the drama effectively, and the cinematography offers a gritty, lived-in aesthetic. Action sequences, while often overindulgent, are slick and impactful. The dialogues, penned by Saurabh Gupta and Sai Madhav Burra, are over-the-top and theatrical—often more memorable than the scenes themselves. However, narrative pacing becomes a significant issue post-interval. The second half drags, and the film's 153-minute runtime begins to weigh heavily. A forced item number featuring feels unnecessary and only adds to the film's bloated feel.' On the work front, Sunny is gearing up for the release of 'Border 2'.

Tom And Jerry Gokko: New Anime Series Trailer Releases
An English trailer of 45 seconds for Japan's Tom and Jerry Gokko short anime series is available on the official YouTube channel of the makers. The anime is "coming soon to YouTube," according to the trailer, but no release date is mentioned. On November 11, 2022, the makers debuted with Tom to Jerry Gokko in Japanese. Currently, episodes lasting one minute are released once a month. The short teaser shows that Tom and Jerry Gokko are more than just adorable. Numerous references to vintage Tom and Jerry episodes can also be found during the anime series. Among them are the scenes where Tom chases Jerry through a mouse hole and comes out looking different, and the one where Jerry eats a huge piece of cheese and his entire body changes form. The dynamic between the two also somewhat appears in the anime series. Because Tom and Jerry are frenemies rather than outright enemies in this version, many of their arguments have a lighthearted tone, and one of them usually becomes overly shaken when things get heated. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Cos'è ChatGPT di cui tutti parlano? "One of the most bizarre goalies": Stuart Skinner silences critics with playoff calm as Edmonton Oilers fans celebrate cautiously
Stuart Skinner (via Getty Images) Edmonton Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner is rewriting his playoff script in the moment, making headlines behind the net during the NHL Playoffs. Following a bumpy beginning, Stuart Skinner's recent play has propelled the Edmonton Oilers and the fan base, including critics, into the spotlight. Yet amidst all the accolades, there remains a spot, with lots of Oilers fans still a bit wary to accept the transformation as anything other than temporary. Stuart Skinner's playoff resurgence brings mixed feelings to Edmonton Oilers supporters What has changed since Skinner returned as Oilers' starter? Stuart Skinner, who was once subjected to withering criticism following erratic performances in previous playoff runs, is now attracting a new type of attention, thanks to a series of solid games that have propelled the Edmonton Oilers further into the playoffs. Once viewed as a liability between the pipes, Stuart Skinner's swift comeback has even opponents' fans lifting an eyebrow. "Crazy how Edmonton started playing defense," commented a Reddit user, looking back on both Stuart Skinner's resurgence and the team's strengthened play in front of him. Another chimed in, "Yeah but stu def stole a few games for them that they prob would've lost against Dallas had he not played so well." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Exclusive MBA Scholarships [Start Now] Google Search Search Now Undo But if there's one central theme that permeates the online fan conversation, it's caution. "Hes one of the most bizarre goalies ive ever seen. Hes either unbeatable, or awful. Florida will be the toughest test though, lot of good shooters on that team." someone wrote. "It's his system," another joked. "Play bad , get pulled , redemption. You get used to it." Despite those jitters, there is increasing respect for Skinner's grit. "Not crazy at all for anyone who's followed his career. He always has a slump after missing games but gets back to his usual self after a few. He also tends to play above his stature in big games. Just look at last season's playoffs and this year's. Pressure is good on him." That observation rang throughout the thread, as veteran fans of Skinner's career praised his resiliency after slumps. And it's not all about shutting down pucks. Some fans complimented Stuart Skinner's off-ice attitude as much as his stops. "Skinner gives some of the most honest and thoughtful answers in pro sports," one fan wrote, praising his down-to-earth, team-oriented attitude. While the Oilers are set to take on a potent Florida Panthers offense in the Stanley Cup Final, Skinner is the one being watched. With shooters like Aleksander Barkov and Matthew Tkachuk releasing from every possible corner, perhaps the greatest challenge lies ahead. "Hes one of the most bizarre goalies ive ever seen. Hes either unbeatable, or awful. Florida will be the toughest test though, lot of good shooters on that team," a user warned. While most are hopelessly optimistic, there's one place where sentiment is anything but: among Edmonton Oilers supporters. Also read: Stanley Cup final spotlight: Can Stuart Skinner outperform Sergei Bobrovsky in the net? One thing is clear: Stuart Skinner has already altered the dynamic. Whether he can continue to perform against one of the league's most perilous offenses will establish both his name and Edmonton's championship aspirations. In the meantime, he's regained some credibility—and perhaps a touch of faith.
