Valentine's dinner to support local nonprofit
The Brewers Kettle is hosting a Valentine's Day dinner with Chef Avery Kennedy.
The Valentine's Dinner is on Friday, Feb. 14, at 6 p.m. Tickets for the event are $50, and proceeds will be used to support the Harvest Hub programming at the Short Street Kitchen.
Harvest Hub is a nonprofit program designed to provide sustainable solutions and support to local businesses, underserved farmers, producers, and culinary entrepreneurs. The program has a focus on sustainability, community outreach, and support.
Kennedy said that Harvest Hub aims to empower and support people in the community.
'Not everybody has the means to do things for themselves, so it's always nice to help people in need. We have all had times where we have needed help. It's like paying it forward,' Kennedy said.
Last October, Short Street Kitchen also partnered with The Brewer's Kettle for the Battle of the Wings event, a cook-off that raised money for volunteers, recovery teams, and displaced families during disaster relief efforts in Western North Carolina.
Kennedy said the dinner will give people a chance to create cherished memories and a positive impact on the community.
'There's people enjoying themselves and getting to know each other, there might be music on, and there's good food. It brings joy to my heart to see that,' Kennedy said.
The Brewers Kettle is at 308 E. Mountain St.
