On this day: man auctions Elvis memorabilia to raise hospital funds
On this day in 2015, the Telegraph and Argus reported that a man was putting his entire Elvis Presley memorabilia collection up for auction in the hope of raising hospital funds.
Brian Cadamarteri, then 76, from Wyke, was moved after learning about a separate Elvis-themed charity event to raise funds for Bradford's neo-natal department.
His collection included a rare album made in Germany, T-shirts, newspapers from the day Elvis died, and souvenirs from a visit to Graceland.
Mr Cadamarteri said: "When we read about the Elvis night and what it was in aid of, we just wanted to help."
A former Elvis tribute performer, Mr Cadamarteri used to entertain audiences in working men's clubs "from Bradford to Manchester, Scarborough to Hull," as per this paper's reporting in 2015.
The Elvis-themed charity event, which prompted Mr Cadamarteri's generosity, was being organised by Linda Pearson of Rooley Lane.
