WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Emergency crews responded to a serious crash involving a motorcycle and a school bus late Thursday afternoon in south Wichita. Around 4:50 p.m., officers with the Wichita Police Department were dispatched to an injury accident involving a school bus and a motorcycle near MacArthur Road and Alfalfa Street. It was determined that the school bus had approached the intersection on Alfalfa, getting ready to make a left turn onto MacArthur. As the bus was turning, the motorcycle, which was heading eastbound on MacArthur, collided with the bus. 'At this time, it's still being determined who's at fault in the accident,' WPD Lieutenant Brian Goward said. The motorcyclist, a 70-year-old man, was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries. Police said 'it doesn't appear' that he was wearing a helmet. The children had to stay here. We will release them to their parents here.' The crash is still under investigation.
