Kids to ‘get moving' with fun-filled fitness activities at Bloom

Fitness and fun is coming this year's Bloom Festival. The Healthy Heroes Lunch Club has launched interactive 'get moving' sessions. Supported by the Irish Bread Bakers Association (IBBA) and Bord Bia, the long-running primary school initiative is teaming up with Dearbhla Toal, aka Belle Azzure. Dearbhla Toal, aka Bella Azzure, is encouraging visitors to this year's Bloom to join her for some fun as part of Healthy Heroes Lunch Club 'get moving' sessions at the 'Budding Bloomers Kids' Zone'. Pic: Brian McEvoy The sessions will be held at the Budding Bloomers Kids' Zone on May 29 and May 30, at 10:50am and 12:10pm each day. The engaging sessions are rooted in the physical activity component of the Healthy Heroes programme, which promotes nutrition education, active lifestyles, and healthy lunchtime habits for children. Designed to get kids moving while having fun, each session is a hands-on opportunity to encourage healthier routines in a playful and energetic setting. The sessions will be held at the Budding Bloomers Kids' Zone on May 29 and May 30, at 10:50am and 12:10pm each day. Pic: Brian McEvoy Now in its 11th year, the Healthy Heroes Club continues to make an impact in schools across Ireland. 'I am thrilled to partner with the Healthy Heroes Lunch Club supported by the IBBA and Bord Bia, to host these fun kids' movement sessions at the Budding Bloomers Kids' Zone at Bloom,' said Dearbhla Toal. 'The importance of movement, exercise and nutrition is something I am passionate about and for me it is essential to education children around the benefits of a healthy and balanced approach to nutrition and fitness. At home, I encourage my children to get moving through fun activities and we all as a family feel the benefits.' 'I look forward to meeting all the children at the Budding Bloomers Kids' Zone and would invite visitors to Bloom to come along to the sessions to have some fun and get moving'.

Glasgow student's fashion showcased at Cannes Film Festival

Ella Sharp, a student at Hillhead High School, wowed international audiences with her design, The Joanie, showcased as part of the Junk Kouture initiative — a global youth fashion movement celebrating creativity and sustainability. Crafted from foil blankets and race numbers, Ella's eye-catching design stood out among the celebrity glitz of Cannes, demonstrating the power of fashion with a purpose. Discarded crisp packets were transformed into a piece called Silver Lining by Lara Keena and Hannah Martin from Westmeath, Ireland, while over 1,500 plastic milk bottle caps were used to construct End of an Era by Carys Clutterbuck, Hannah Pugh, and Chiedza Makuto from Stroud, UK. Other designs included Nespresso Yourself by Irish students Jamie O'Grady and Nichola Fitzpatrick, made from aluminium coffee pods and bags, and Marée Noire by Monaco students Daniela Pagotto and Nathanaël Sargenti, built from sea glass, plastic bottles, and buttons. The striking designs, paraded alongside film stars and influencers, underscored a vital message about sustainable living and circular fashion. Junk Kouture challenges students to rethink waste, transforming everyday discarded materials into innovative fashion. The Good, the Bad and the Grand..Celebs descend on D4 hotel for Style Awards

From the show-stoppers to the jaw-droppers, the daringly overstated to the equally eye-catching under-rated, the VIP Style Awards red carpet showcased the good, the bad and the grand of Irish fashion. Racy side-splits, to raunchy bodice-ripped to belly-baring midriffs to the more demurely turned-out reserved, the celebrity set turned up and turned the style-o-meter up a serious notch at the 2025 VIP Style Awards. The red carpet was a veritable fashion catwalk, ranging from the pared-back to the dramatically over-the-top. There was on trend haute couture to old-style classic creations. There was to quote the legend that was Gay Byrne, something for everyone in the sartorial audience. Suzanne Jackson pictured at the Platinum VIP Style Awards 2025 at the InterContinental Dublin. Pic: Brian McEvoy The indisputable queen of the dramatics has to go to former Miss Ireland Holly Carpenter. The beauty queen turned every head in attendance as she rocked up looking like she just stepped out of a mish-mash of movie sets. From her golden globette, gold eyelet slinky dress, to her Disney villain marvel hero black and gold flowing cape, Holly showcased panache with her own inimitable sass for serious fashionable measure. Holly Carpenter pictured at the Platinum VIP Style Awards 2025 at the InterContinental Dublin. Pic: Brian McEvoy While the old fashion adage is duly considered to be 'legs or boob's, never both' the sartorial rule book was well and truly flung out the window of the Intercontinental penthouse suite. As a parade of leggy ladies alighted from their Uber cabs and onto the rolled-out red carpet, showing style for miles, with many giving Angelina Jolie's iconic Cannes leg-on-display moment a run for her money. Rosanna Davison pictured at the Platinum VIP Style Awards 2025 at the InterContinental Dublin. Pic: Brian McEvoy Michelle Regazzoli Stone pictured at the Platinum VIP Style Awards 2025 at the InterContinental Dublin. Pic: Brian McEvoy And it wasn't just knees and toes on show as there was no shortage of strapless top style, with a dazzling array of the dare to bare brigade. Pamela Uba pictured at the Platinum VIP Style Awards 2025 at the InterContinental Dublin. Pic: Brian McEvoy . And talk about Tickle Me Elmo. it does, after all appear, that birds of a feather do indeed flock together as frocks ruffled feathers at the five-star Intercontinental Hotel in the leafy environs of Ballsbridge. Sarah McInerney pictured at the Platinum VIP Style Awards 2025 at the InterContinental Dublin. Pic: Brian McEvoy The nation's favourite chirpy chatterbox, Elaine Crowley, was perhaps the more reserved among those who opted for feather-inspired attire. The Ireland AM presenter certainly wasn't feeling the blues with her statement birds of paradise feather peacock earnings, which were perfectly matched with her blue feather clutch, which Elaine offset with a unique feather boa style creation adorning her leather-gloved arm . And while there was the daring, the creative and the outrageous, there was also a strong contingent of the pared back. Influencer and new mum Louise Cooney opted for a simple yet nonetheless standout stylish cerise pink mini designer dress. Pic: Brian McEvoy While author Cecilia Ahern was all-white on the night as she arrived with her mother Miriam, who sparkled from head to toe in a sequin-style black trouser and sheer top outfit. Pic: Brian McEvoy And the perennially classically and unfaltering beautiful attired Celia Holman Lee once again gave the fun, loving younger attendees a most stylish lesson in etiquette and dressing beautifully for any occasion. No less than three mums-to-be were positively bloomingly beautiful as they arrived with baby-on-board for their not-yet-born celebrity offspring's first ever high society outing. Dragons Den beautypreneur Pamela Laird looked the business as she proudly cradled her baby bump for her soon-to-arrive little ones' very first paparazzi pic. Pamela Laird pictured at the Platinum VIP Style Awards 2025 at the InterContinental Dublin. Pic: Brian McEvoy And Dancing with the Stars stylist Clementine MacNeice chose a midriff-baring two-piece for her baby bump picture-perfect moment. And three's company as Influencer Terri McEvoy was baby blu-eatiful in a simple yet stunning light blue pleated dress as she arrived with her lovey-dovey dapper hubby David for a right family affair. David Fitzpatrick and Terrie McEvoy pictured at the Platinum VIP Style Awards 2025 at the InterContinental Dublin. Pic: Brian McEvoy While some worthy winners will end up with a coveted VIP Style Award gong, and others will leave empty handed, the awards mark another celebration of Irish fashion for not just the celebrity set, but the designers, and for the masses who never fail to have their own favourites from the stunning array of style on display.
