Southeast Kansas law enforcement named 'Officer of the Year' for the second time
PARSONS, Kans. — A great honor has been bestowed on an area police officer — for the second time.
The Parsons Police Department announced on Monday that Sergeant Detective Brice Dickens has been awarded the 2024 Officer of the Year on Wednesday, March 12. This honor is awarded to Dickens by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 704.
According to law enforcement, Dickens' investigative skillset was paramount in a multi-agency effort combating illegal narcotics in Southeast Kansas. Dickens worked alongside the FBI, DEA, and KBI, and 'he helped spearhead an extensive investigation into drug trafficking operations that were affecting Parsons and the surrounding communities.'
'Sgt. Dickens embodies the very best of law enforcement by displaying dedication, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to justice. His work, particularly in drug enforcement, has made a tangible difference in our community. This recognition from the VFW is a well-deserved honor, and we are proud to have him as part of our team. His leadership and investigative skillset continue to set a high standard for policing in Parsons. He truly displays the Parsons Police Departments core values of pride, professionalism, and dedication,' said Robert Spinks, Parsons Police Chief.
