EastEnders legend quits job in early iPlayer release - and lands another already

This article contains spoilers for tonight's episode of EastEnders, which airs on BBC One at 7.30pm or can be streamed now on iPlayer. Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) has quit her job on the Bridge Street Market – and a new job offer has being handed straight to her. Earlier this week, she excitedly told Kathy Cotton (Gillian Taylforth) that her boss, chief market inspector Mr Lister (Nick Wilton) was retiring after many years overseeing the traders, and she was eyeing up his position. He'd basically promised that she'd be his successor, and Honey was thrilled at the prospect of becoming top dog. However, in today's episode, Lister dropped a huge bombshell during their meeting. Mr Lister – who has appeared in 61 episodes across several stints since 2008 – is often seen ensuring the locals have a market license, disciplining the traders and being a general nuisance. He famously clashed with Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) on a number of occasions, and more recently, developed somewhat of an inappropriate affection for Honey. Over lunch, he asked if she was single, before asking her to consider whether the love of her life was closer than she imagined. He even said she could drop the formalities and start calling him Bob! At the time, she'd just split up from Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick), and he tried to suggest that she'd be better off with an older man. Luckily, Finlay Baker (Ashley Byam) came to her rescue, stepping in to announce that they were a couple. Last year, amid Junior Knight's (Micah Balfour) plans to redevelop the market, he announced his intentions to retire. He wouldn't even support the residents campaign to save the institution. However, the late Martin Fowler (James Bye) convinced him to stay in post and help fight. Honey was preparing for a meeting with Lister when she bumped into Zack Hudson (James Farrar) in the Minute Mart. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? He was intrigued to hear that the inspector was moving on, and that Honey's job would be on the market (see what I did there?) In the cafe, Mr Lister brushed around the subject, only for Honey to ask him outright when he was retiring. Lister explained that he isn't in a position to retire – if ever – because a family member named Keith has invested his money. His advice was to never trust a man named Keith. Noted. More Trending Honey was beyond miffed, and while ranting to husband Billy (Perry Fenwick), expressed concern that the reason she hasn't been eyed up as a replacement is because she's a woman. Mr Lister arrived and said he'd promised his job to someone from the rival Canal Street Market, when or if that might be. Enraged, Honey then quit her job on the spot, with Vinny Panesar (Shiv Jalota) swooping in to ask when she can start working at the shop. He even threw in an extra £2 per hour, and agreed she could have a week off before she started. View More » It seems Lister ain't going anywhere! EastEnders icon announces retirement after years in early BBC iPlayer release

This article contains spoilers for tonight's episode of EastEnders, which airs on BBC One at 7.30pm or can be streamed now on iPlayer. A fan-favourite EastEnder has decided to call time on their prestigious job in the Walford community. I am, of course, referring to Bridge Street Market's chief inspector Mr Lister (Nick Wilton), or Bob to his mates. Not like he has many – he's ruffled many a feather during the last 17 years. That could all come to an end in upcoming scenes, however, as the busybody has announced his retirement. Mr Lister is often seen ensuring the locals have a market license, disciplining the traders and being a general nuisance. He has been a recurring presence in the show since 2008, and has appeared in 61 episodes. Viewers will remember that at one point he developed somewhat of an inappropriate affection for Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) After asking her if she was single, he commented that the lot of her life could be closer than she thought. The two then had lunch together, with Lister flooding her with compliments. In tonight's episode, Honey excitedly told Kathy Cotton (Gillian Taylforth) that she may have a new job on the horizon. More Trending She's Lister's second in command, but is eyeing up his position post-retirement. Let's face it, she's pretty much the perfect candidate! But does this mean the end of Mr Lister's time in Walford? Could he still pop up from time to time? View More » EastEnders airs these scenes at 7.30pm on BBC One. West Side Grand Rapids bar hands out 200 Easter meals to those in need

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A new bar on the West Side of Grand Rapids gave out hundreds of meals on Easter morning to those in need. Owner Rob Wahl started up Bridge Street Bar less than two months ago, right across from Bridge Street Market. As a longtime West Side visitor, he knows just how many are experiencing homelessness. 'The need, I just see it every day coming down here,' Wahl said. He wanted to do something to give back, especially on Easter. Why is Easter hardly on the same Sunday? 'I don't think a lot of things are done on Easter,' he said. 'There's probably a lot more on Thanksgiving and Christmas especially. I feel like Easter might get missed, so I wanted to include it.' Wahl and his staff took to the kitchen and cooked up 200 meals for the less fortunate. Each box was complete with ham, mashed potatoes, corn and bread. They handed the meals out through their walkup window to whoever needed a meal. 'I'm just going to do what I can do, you know?' Wahl said. Hundreds celebrate Easter at Grand Rapids cathedral The plan is to make this a holiday tradition. Not just on Easter, but on Thanksgiving and Christmas too. 'I don't need any recognition for this,' Wahl said. 'I just think goodwill should be a part of everybody's business. That's it.'
