‘Blue Bloods' star Bridget Moynahan to appear on premiere of spinoff ‘Boston Blue'
Bridget Moynahan is set to reprise her role as Erin Reagan in the premiere episode of 'Boston Blue', the much-anticipated spinoff of the long-running CBS police drama 'Blue Bloods'. The network confirmed Friday that Moynahan will also direct an episode later in the first season, continuing her behind-the-camera work from the original series. The news was also shared by the lead actor Donnie Wahlberg via his Instagram, who wrote, 'So excited to have my dear friend, and TV sister @bridgetmoynahan, join me for a special guest appearance in the premiere episode of #BostonBlue! (sic).' Her guest appearance will reunite her with Donnie Wahlberg, who returns in the lead role as Detective Danny Reagan. The spinoff series shifts the franchise's setting from New York City to Boston and focuses on Danny's transition to the Boston Police Department, alongside a new cast of characters. 'Boston Blue' will also introduce Sean Reagan, Danny's son, as a new patrol officer in Boston. However, in a surprising move, the role of Sean — played by Andrew Terraciano across nearly the entirety of Blue Bloods' 14-season run — has been recast. Mika Amonsen, known for roles in 'Suits' and 'Reacher', will take over the character. No reason has been given for the casting change, and both CBS and Terraciano have remained silent on the matter. The actor's only public comment was a farewell message shared after filming wrapped in 2024. Joining Wahlberg and Amonsen in 'Boston Blue' are Sonequa Martin-Green as Lena Silver, Maggie Lawson as Sarah Silver, Marcus Scribner as Jonah Silver, Gloria Reuben as Mae Silver, and Ernie Hudson as Reverend Peters. The Silver family appears set to play a central role in the new drama. Bridget Moynahan's dual contribution — both in front of and behind the camera — underscores CBS's effort to keep a strong link to the original 'Blue Bloods' legacy while introducing fresh stories and perspectives in a new city.

Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan reunite for ‘Blue Bloods' spinoff after shock cancellation
Bridget Moynahan is joining her brother in blue. The actress, 54, is officially set to return as Erin Reagan in the 'Blue Bloods' spinoff, 'Boston Blue.' The new show will follow Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) as he leaves the Big Apple to take a position with the Boston Police Department. 11 Donnie Wahlberg and Bridget Moynahan on 'Boston Blue.' Donnie Wahlberg/Instagram 'Blue Bloods' aired its first episode in 2010 and followed a New York City family that worked in law enforcement. The star-studded cast also included Tom Selleck, Will Estes and Len Cariou as members of the tight-knit family. CBS announced on Friday that Moynahan will make a guest appearance in the first episode of 'Boston Blue.' She is also set to direct an episode during Season 1. 'Reunited and it feels so good!' Wahlberg, 55, captioned an Instagram shot with his longtime co-star while on set. On July 8, the 'Very Scary People' host posted a photo to his Instagram Stories from his first table read on the spinoff. 'A new chapter 💙,' Wahlberg penned beneath a snap of the pilot script. 11 Will Estes, Len Cariou, Bridget Moynahan, Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg are seen on the set of 'Blue Bloods' in 2024. Rounding out the cast are Maggie Lawson, Marcus Scribner, Gloria Reuben and Ernie Hudson. Sean will work as a patrolman for the Boston Police Department, according to Deadline. 'Blue Bloods' aired its series finale in December after 14 on CBS. At the time, Wahlberg penned a touching tribute to the police procedural and a love note to the show's loyal fans. 11 Bridget Moynahan as Erin Reagan and Donnie Wahlberg as Danny Reagan. CBS via Getty Images 'Dearest Blockheads,' the actor began on Instagram. 'There is, of course, a sadness in saying goodbye to #BlueBloods. But what a heck of a ride we had together! You all were literally part of the Blue Bloods family! Not just on Friday nights (trending #BlueBloods every single week that it's been on the air), not just in your impact on the Ratings (which was massive), you all made yourselves an actual part of the crew.' Wahlberg added that everyone on the set 'knew you, appreciated you and was happy to see you.' 'None — more than me. Of all the memories, highlights and moments, that I'll look back on fondly from the last 14 years of filming #BlueBloods in New York City, your set visits will be something that I'll cherish forever,' he shared. 11 Donnie Wahlberg as NYPD Officer Danny Reagan. CBS Entertainment The New Kids On The Block member went on to recall his cherished memories of viewers. 'You brought smiles, gifts, cupcakes (even though I was staying in shape for NKOTB tours), candy (too many Coffee Crisps and Kinder to mention), hugs, signs, inspiration and of course love. Some visitors — did not miss a season,' Wahlberg detailed. 'Some visitors — we now miss so dearly.' 'I keep closing my eyes, and seeing your faces, as I'm writing this. I'm so thankful to you all. Please know that my heart is full. I can go on forever, about you, but it's time to stop writing and to simply let these memories live. I thank you. I love you. I appreciate you. I salute you,' he continued before writing a sweet sign-off. 11 Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) meets with Danny Reagan, (Donnie Wahlberg) in the 'Blue Bloods' scene. CBS 'My Blockhead/BlueBloods Family. See you on the next adventure. Coming soon.' Selleck, 80, however, didn't hold back from sharing his disdain over the end of the beloved series. 'I'm kind of frustrated,' the Emmy winner told TV Insider in October. 'During those last eight shows, I haven't wanted to talk about an ending for Blue Bloods but about it still being wildly successful.' Selleck pointed out that the show still had strong ratings, as well. 11 Bridget Moynahan and Donnie Wahlberg. JOJO WHILDEN 'I'm not going to turn into a bitter old guy saying, 'Get off my lawn!' I don't believe in holding grudges, but if you were to say to the television network, 'Here's a show you can program in the worst time slot you got, and it is going to guarantee you winning Friday night for the next 15 years,' it would be almost impossible to believe.' Selleck continued, 'My frustration is the show was always taken for granted because it performed from the get-go. So how do I feel? It's going to take a long time to sort all of this out.' Despite his disappointment, the 'Magnum P.I.' star isn't done yet. 11 A scene from the CBS series 'Blue Bloods.' CBS via Getty Images He told Town & Country in May, 'I hope there's another Western in my future. Certainly whatever happens with 'Blue Bloods,' I'm not going to stop acting.' Meanwhile, that same month, Wahlberg admitted he did everything he could to save 'Blue Bloods' before accepting the show's fate. 'When it ended, we thought, 'Okay, some of the network's gonna come and say, let's keep going.' And nobody came, and it was kind of like we were all in denial about it,' he told Fox News Digital. Wahlberg said that the opportunity for him to produce 'Boston Blue' then came along. 11 A March episode of 'Blue Bloods.' JOJO WHILDEN 'It was heavy, you know?' the singer confessed. 'It's, like, how do I do this? Like, how does [his character] Danny Reagan carry on? You know, how do we create this new world for this character, and how do we do it in another city, not in New York?' Wahlberg mentioned that everyone involved in 'Blue Bloods' — both in front of and behind the camera — was so important to him. 'They became part of our family,' he said. 'You know, the viewers are saying, like, 'How do we keep going with a Blue Blood spinoff without the whole family?' And I share that. How do we do that, right?' Wahlberg made the decision to move forward with the new project. 11 Donnie Wahlberg as Officer Danny Reagan. CBS 'It was definitely a challenge to take on this opportunity, but I kept saying to myself, you know, if I'm really sincere about wanting 'Blue Bloods' to carry on, here's an opportunity to do it,' he detailed. 'Now, it's just Danny going to this new world, but I can't say a lot about it — but I could say, if he's a Reagan, it will never be just Danny. There'll always be a Reagan a phone call away. And the traditions that the Reagans have, Danny wouldn't abandon those traditions.'

Bridget Moynahan to star in Boston Blue
Bridget Moynahan is set to star in the Blue Bloods spin-off series. The 54-year-old actress has reprised the role of Erin Reagan to star alongside Donnie Wahlberg in Boston Blue. Donnie, 55, wrote on Instagram: "Reunited and if feels so good! So excited to have my dear friend, and TV sister @bridgetmoynahan, join me for a special guest appearance in the premiere episode of #BostonBlue! She'll also be bringing her incredible directing talents to the show this season! More fun (and surprises) to come. [eyes emojis] Let's go! [heart emojis] (sic)" The celebrity duo previously played siblings on Blue Bloods, the hit drama series that ran from 2010 until 2024. And Donnie previously revealed his long-term ambitions for Blue Bloods, admitting that he wanted the show to compete with Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. Speaking to Us Weekly in 2023, Donnie said: "I mean, Ice-T and Mariska Hargitay have been going for gosh, so many years, and we hope to last as long as they have. "One of the things I've done is I try to just stay very present in each episode and take each script that comes my way and say, 'OK, what's gonna happen now? You know, what am I doing this week?' And kind of find the journey in that particular episode and not get caught up in what's gonna happen next year, what's gonna happen in two years." Donnie also joked about the possibility of launching a Blue Bloods spin-off. Discussing one of his spin-off ideas, Donnie said: "Danny and Erin become private investigators and move to Hawaii, but that was too close to Magnum, P.I., so we didn't want to do that one." Meanwhile, Bridget previously shared details of her last day on Blue Bloods, revealing that the cast were "all a little disappointed". Speaking to People, the actress explained: "We've had such a good time. We all want to be there. It's a real loss. "This was our daily lives for 14 years. And we've all experienced together major life moments together, whether it's births, deaths, marriages, divorces, illnesses, we've had it all together."

Blue Bloods' Bridget Moynahan Set for Double Duty on Boston Blue Spinoff
At least two true Reagans have reunited as CBS' Blue Bloods spinoff continues production on its series premiere. As revealed on social media Friday morning, Bridget Moynahan is on-set in Toronto at Boston Blue, where she will make a 'special guest appearance' as Danny Reagan's sister, Erin, in the offshoot's Friday, Oct. 17 premiere. View this post on Instagram A post shared by DONNIE WAHLBERG (@donniewahlberg) A 'universe expansion' of the long-running family/crime drama, Boston Blue (airing Fridays at 10/9c) finds Donnie Wahlberg's Danny Reagan taking a position with the Boston Police Department. There, he is paired with Detective Lena Silver (Star Trek: Discovery's Sonequa Martin-Green), the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family. TVLine previously reported that Danny will not be the only Reagan family member relocating to Boston. Mika Amonsen (The Republic of Sarah, Hudson and Rex) has been cast in the series regular role of Sean Reagan, Danny's youngest son (of two). In Boston Blue, Sean has moved to Boston to start his own new chapter, as a patrolman for the Boston PD — thus paving the way for his father's own move. Want scoop on , or for any other TV show?
