Universal's film adaptation of Colleen Hoover's second most recent novel, Reminders of Him will arrive in theaters between Paramount's take on her Regretting Youbook and Amazon MGM Studios' adaptation of her thriller Verity. The Universal film is set to arrive in theaters just in time for Valentine's Day on Feb. 13. Who is in the cast of the movie? Maika Monroe was the first actress cast in the film as Deadline exclusively reported. She will star, and she was joined by costar Tyriq Withers a few weeks later, also exclusively reported by Deadline. Next came Outer Banks star Rudy Pankow, whose role has not been specified, followed by Gilmore Girls alumna Lauren Graham, first reported by Deadline. Graham will appear as Grace Landry, mother of Kenna's late boyfriend, Scotty. The most recent addition to the film's cast was Nicholas Duvernay, fresh off his turn in The White Lotus Season 3 as Belinda Lindsay's son Zion. Duvernay will play Roman, a bartender at Ward's Bar, the owner of which was Kenna's late boyfriend's best friend. Who else is behind the movie? Vanessa Caswill (Love at First Sight) will direct the film from the screenplay cowritten by author Colleen Hoover and Lauren Levine (Bridge to Terabithia, Confess). The pair will produce the film through their Heartbones Entertainment banner. Hoover and Levine will be producing through their Heartbones Ent. What is about? Is the movie based on a book? Reminders of Him is a movie about motherhood, forgiveness and the power of one love to heal even the most shattered heart. First published in 2022, Reminders of Him has sold more than 6 million copies in the United States and is a best seller around the world. The novel centers Kenna Rowan, a mother who reunites with her four-year-old daughter after release from five years in prison. Bridges Kenna burned are difficult to rebuild upon her return to town, with everyone around Kenna's daughter determined to cut her off from her daughter. Local bar owner Ledger Ward is the only person who takes a chance on her, and he provides a link to Kenna's daughter. The two form a connection despite the tension around them, but as their romance grows, so does the pressure. Kenna must find a way to forgiveness for her past actions in order to move forward with a healed future. 'Reminders of Him': All About the Colleen Hoover Adaptation Starring Maika Monroe and Rudy Pankow
Another Colleen Hoover book is coming to the big screen. In October 2024, Deadline reported that Universal had landed the rights to her bestselling book Reminders of Him. The novel — which was published in 2022 and sold over 6.5 million copies globally — follows ex-convict Kenna Rowan as she returns to her hometown after a five-year prison stint, determined to reconnect with her 4-year-old daughter and the one man in town who hasn't written her off. 'I am thrilled to be working with Universal to bring Kenna Rowan's world to life,' Hoover told Deadline. 'I hear from many readers who tell me they found something of themselves in her story of living with and through tragedy and doing the often messy and imperfect work of healing and turning the page to a fresh chapter in life.' Rebuilding her life proves difficult when it seems like everyone is determined to shut her out — except for a local bar owner with ties to her child. As their relationship grows, Kenna must confront the tragedies of her past in order to build a more hopeful future. Hoover wrote the screenplay for Reminders of Him with Lauren Levine, best known for producing the film adaptation of Bridge to Terabithia. The duo will also produce the film through their company Heartbones Entertainment, marking the company's first project. Maika Monroe, best known for Longlegs and Watcher, will lead Reminders of Him as Kenna. In April 2025, Deadline reported that Outer Banks star Rudy Pankow had also joined the cast, though his role has yet to be revealed. Tyriq Withers will also appear in Reminders of Him as Ledger, a bar owner who is one of the only remaining links to Kenna's daughter. The I Know What You Did Last Summer actor shared the news on Instagram and said that he was 'feeling beyond grateful to step into this story' and that the role felt 'deeply personal," seemingly alluding to his brother's death in 2021. 'I only hope to honor those who have loved and lost, and to serve as a light for anyone still finding their way through the darkness,' he wrote. In December 2024, Deadline reported that Vanessa Caswill, best known for Love at First Sight, was set to direct Reminders of Him. She also helmed three episodes of the BBC's 2017 miniseries, Little Women. The adaptation of Reminders of Him is set to film in Calgary, Alberta, Canadian outlet CTV News reported. Production will start in April and wrap up in June 2025, per ACTRA. Reminders of Him is set to premiere on Feb. 13, 2026.
