Mercury's Satou Sabally WNBA All-Star Weekend replacement officially announced.

The post Mercury's Satou Sabally WNBA All-Star Weekend replacement officially announced. appeared first on ClutchPoints. Brionna Jones, the center for the Atlanta Dream, has yet another reason to celebrate this weekend. Jones has officially been named to replace injured Satou Sabally of the Mercury Phoenix in the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game. The league announced on Thursday that Jones will take Sabally's precious roster space as she will not be able to play due to an ankle injury, which has left her out for quite some time now, and will also prevent her from participating in the highly anticipated event on July 19 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Jones' selection marks the fourth WNBA All-Star appearance of her career and her first as a member of the Dream, after joining the Atlanta franchise this season. She replaces Sabally on Team Clark, one of the two squads set to compete in Saturday's showcase event. This marks the latest recognition in a standout campaign for Jones, who has helped Atlanta position itself among the league's top teams. The center has delivered one of her most productive seasons, averaging 13.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game, all while shooting over 50 percent from the field. Her rebounding numbers put her in the WNBA's top five, and she ranks highly in multiple advanced statistical categories (win shares, offensive rating) – Jones has established a personal high as well this season for double-doubles at eight, demonstrating her importance to Atlanta's success as of the All-Star break. Jones' All-Star nod also contributes to a milestone year for the Dream, with Atlanta having multiple players selected for the All-Star Game for the seventh time in franchise history. She joins All-Star starter Allisha Gray, while Rhyne Howard had been named a reserve earlier in the season before being ruled out with a knee injury. The All-Star Game also features events like the WNBA STARRY 3-Point Contest and Kia Skills Challenge, so this weekend promises to be a celebration of the league's top talent.

Fever star Caitlin Clark's All-Star replacement officially announced

The post Fever star Caitlin Clark's All-Star replacement officially announced appeared first on ClutchPoints. After re-aggravating her groin injury late in the Indiana Fever's win over the Connecticut Sun, Caitlin Clark will not be participating in the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game. With the game just two days away, the league announced that Washington Mystics guard Brittney Sykes will replace her in the headlining event. Sykes, 31, is averaging a career-high 17.1 points and 4.4 assists per game, leading the Mystics in both categories. Many fans felt that she was the biggest snub from the game when the initial list was released. Sykes will join rookie teammates Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen in her first All-Star Game appearance. Clark confirmed that she would miss the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game on Thursday morning. She sat out of the Fever's game against the New York Liberty on Wednesday night, indicating that she would likely take the weekend off. In the same announcement, Clark also acknowledged that she would not participate in the three-point contest. The league additionally confirmed Atlanta Dream center Brionna Jones will replace the Phoenix Mercury's Satou Sabally, who will also miss the game due to injury. Jones receives her fourth All-Star nod, including her second consecutive. Fever's Caitlin Clark to still attend WNBA All-Star Game While Clark will not play, she will still be in Gainbridge Fieldhouse for the game. Clark noted in her message that she still wants to help Sandy Brondello coach her team to a victory in her first appearance as an All-Star captain. Clark was supposed to return to the All-Star Game for the second consecutive year after making the cut in 2024 as a rookie. She led 'Team WNBA' to a 117-109 win over Team USA, recording 10 assists along the way. The game only added more fuel to the fire of fans who believed she was wrongfully excluded from Team USA's 2024 roster. Without Clark, the Fever will still be well represented at All-Star Weekend. Indiana guard Kelsey Mitchell will start for Clark's team, with center Aliyah Boston coming off the bench. Mitchell and Boston are both returning to the game after playing for Team WNBA in 2024.
