Bristol Bears overcome spirited Bath in front of 51,000 in Cardiff
It is not every day that the sign-off hymn in Cardiff is Drink Up Ye Cider, but nor is it every day that we have an occasion like this. There was a fabulous turnout for Bristol's Big Day Out, more than 51,000, so they have every excuse to repeat it all, and to see the thousands in Bristol's dark blue and Bath's light blue pouring out of Cardiff station was amazing. No doubt they were able to negotiate the sheer inhumanity of the station and take it in their stride.
The match was an epic of movement, of tries from distance, of crazy attack and counterattack, and yet also of some thunderous hitting in defence.
We thought that things would be a little devalued
